TLDR

For most law firms, I'd pick Searchmaxxed. The right agency for you still depends on your practice area, the size of your firm and how much proof you need to see first.

- **Pages every week, inside Rule 36, on a site you own?** Searchmaxxed.
- **Digital PR and a long list of named legal clients?** Prosperity Media, which names four legal brands on its lawyer page.
- **A conveyancing or property practice?** Kia Ora Digital, which publishes a conveyancing case study with lead growth from organic search.
- **A personal injury firm?** AEK Media publishes three injury firm results.
- **A small firm that wants a published price and no lock-in?** Law Launch, whose packages run month to month with 30 days' notice.
- **Family law and local exclusivity?** Law SEO takes three clients per area.
- **Want Australia's largest SEO agency, by its own description?** StudioHawk.

Published SEO prices for Australian law firms run from about A$1,100 to A$10,000+ monthly. Ask every agency which pages go live in month one.

The best SEO for a law firm comes from an agency that publishes legal results and knows the advertising rules you practise under. It should also show what ships. My pick is Searchmaxxed, the SEO, AI SEO, GEO and AEO agency I run, for firms that want practice area pages built every week. We check each claim against Rule 36. I put it first because it's mine. This list is my own selection, written by me, Brenden House, and no award body, survey or client rating sits behind it.

Six more are worth a call: Prosperity Media, Kia Ora Digital, AEK Media, Law Launch, Law SEO and StudioHawk. I compared each one only on what its own website publishes. I read every page on 26 October 2026 (AEST).

## Which law firm SEO agencies made my shortlist?

Seven agencies made the list. Five publish results for named law firms or legal practice types, and only one of the seven publishes its prices.

| Agency | Best for | Published pricing | AI search offer |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1. Searchmaxxed | Weekly pages built inside the conduct rules | Let's talk pricing | AEO and GEO in every managed package |
| 2. Prosperity Media | Digital PR and named legal clients | Not published | Generative AI SEO service |
| 3. Kia Ora Digital | Conveyancing and property practices | Not published | AI search in its lawyer SEO |
| 4. AEK Media | Personal injury firms | Not published | None on its lawyer page |
| 5. Law Launch | Small firms wanting monthly terms | A$1,100 to A$2,500 monthly | GEO as a bonus on Grow packages |
| 6. Law SEO | Family law firms wanting exclusivity | Not published | None on its homepage |
| 7. StudioHawk | Firms wanting a large agency | Not published | AI search-friendly content |

Most lists stop there. The second table shows what each agency publishes about legal work, the part that matters when your practising certificate is on the line.

| Agency | Legal results it publishes | Advertising rules on its page |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Searchmaxxed | Radiant and A$10M+ client total; no law firm case yet | Rule 36 claim review on every page |
| Prosperity Media | LegalVision traffic, Astor Legal PR | Ethical link building, no rule named |
| Kia Ora Digital | Conveyancing firm, +76% organic leads | State rules and injury limits in its FAQ |
| AEK Media | Three injury firms, one criminal defence firm | None found |
| Law Launch | Two criminal law firms | Says it respects the Solicitors' Conduct Rules |
| Law SEO | Shanahan Family Law | None found |
| StudioHawk | None for a law firm | "Ethical, compliant", no misleading claims |

## How did I choose them?

I started from the agencies Google shows for "best seo for law firms" and "legal seo agency" in Australia. Then I read each one's lawyer page and judged every agency on the same four things:

1. **Legal proof they publish.** A named law firm, or a legal practice type, with a number attached. Proof from shoe shops and software companies counts for less here, because legal searches and legal clients behave differently.
2. **Advertising rule knowledge.** Does the agency's own page show it knows Rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules, specialist wording and the injury limits?
3. **Published price and terms.** What it costs and how long you're locked in, where the agency says.
4. **AI search.** A published offer for Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity.

Every fact below comes from the agency's own website on 26 October 2026, and I quote their results as their claims. This list measures what each agency shows the public. Client happiness is a different test. So call two or three of them before you sign anything.

## 1. Searchmaxxed: best for firms that want practice area pages built and checked every week

Searchmaxxed is the SEO, AI SEO, GEO and AEO agency for law firms that want new practice area and office pages live every week. Every claim gets a Rule 36 check. It suits a principal who wants enquiries by practice area, not a ranking report that nobody at the firm reads.

- **Legal proof they publish:** None for a law firm yet. I won't invent one. Before Searchmaxxed, I built [Radiant Roof Repairs](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/case-studies/radiant-roof-repairs-seo-case-study) from zero to more than A$1 million a year in revenue using SEO as the only marketing channel. Searchmaxxed's work has generated more than A$10 million in revenue through search for its clients.
- **Advertising rules:** Our [law firm SEO page](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/industries/legal-seo) sets out the Rule 36 claim review we run on every page we publish. We check specialist wording, results, fees and titles, then your principal signs off every claim.
- **What they sell:** Technical SEO, local SEO, practice area pages, links and reviews, through our [Managed Search Loop](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/managed-search-loop) on a site you own.
- **Pricing:** Let's talk pricing. We quote after looking at your site, your market and your practice areas.
- **AI search:** AEO and GEO sit inside every managed package. We track what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers say when someone asks for a lawyer.
- **Ask them:** Which pages go live first?

## 2. Prosperity Media: best for digital PR and a long list of named legal clients

Prosperity Media is a Sydney SEO agency with more named legal clients on its lawyer page than any other agency here. The page names four legal brands and walks through a digital PR campaign for Astor Legal, with coverage in 7NEWS and The Daily Telegraph. Want links and press? Prosperity is the first call to make.

- **Legal proof they publish:** They say they've worked with Astor Legal, LegalVision, LY Lawyers and Monaco Compensation. For LegalVision they claim a 268% increase in organic traffic. For Astor Legal they claim 105 pieces of national coverage and 130+ earned backlinks, which is a lot of press for one law firm.
- **Advertising rules:** The page talks about "ethical link acquisition" and legally accurate content, but it doesn't name Rule 36 or the personal injury limits.
- **Where they are:** Surry Hills, Sydney, by their own description.
- **Pricing:** Not published.
- **AI search:** A [Generative AI SEO service](https://prosperitymedia.com.au/generative-ai-seo-services/) for ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot.
- **Ask them:** Which of your legal results came from SEO, and which came from the digital PR campaigns?

[Prosperity Media's lawyer SEO page](https://prosperitymedia.com.au/seo-for-lawyers-and-law-firms/) has the full case studies.

## 3. Kia Ora Digital: best for conveyancing and property practices

Kia Ora Digital sells SEO and AI search together on its lawyer page. Its legal proof is a conveyancing firm, so it's a natural first call for property and conveyancing practices that want more leads. It knows the rules shift by state.

- **Legal proof they publish:** For Victorian Statewide Conveyancing they claim +76% leads from organic search and +103% keywords on page one of Google.
- **Advertising rules:** Their FAQ says each state regulates legal advertising and that several states restrict personal injury advertising. Write to every state you practise in.
- **Awards:** They say they won Best Use of AI in Search at the 2026 APAC Search Awards.
- **Pricing:** Not published. Their FAQ says most firms commit 5 to 10 percent of revenue.
- **AI search:** AI search optimisation for AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity, using FAQ schema and entity signals.
- **Ask them:** What did you build for the conveyancing client in the first three months, and what would you build for my firm?

See [Kia Ora Digital's lawyer page](https://www.kiaoradigital.com.au/industries/lawyers/).

## 4. AEK Media: best for personal injury firms

AEK Media leads with injury law. Three of its four legal results are personal injury firms, in Queensland and Victoria. It also builds law firm websites, so it suits an injury firm that needs a new site and SEO from one team.

- **Legal proof they publish:** For Maxiom Injury Lawyers in Melbourne they claim a 467% increase in organic clicks. They claim 81% more organic traffic for "Queensland's leading personal injury lawyers" and 75% for "Victoria's fastest growing personal injury law firm". A criminal defence firm saw 135% more high-value traffic, by their account.
- **Advertising rules:** I found no mention of Rule 36 or the Queensland personal injury limits on the page. Ask about both.
- **What they sell:** Law firm SEO, legal articles and law firm website design.
- **Pricing:** Not published, though they offer a 45-minute discovery call to scope the work.
- **AI search:** None on the lawyer page.
- **Ask them:** How do you handle injury pages for a Queensland firm under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act?

See [AEK Media's law SEO page](https://aekmedia.com.au/law-seo/).

## 5. Law Launch: best for small firms that want a published price and monthly terms

Law Launch works only with law firms and is the one agency here that publishes its prices. It aims at boutique and mid-sized firms. It says it onboards one firm a month, and its Grow packages run month to month.

- **Legal proof they publish:** Two criminal firms. For Sher Criminal Lawyers in Melbourne, they say 45 service pages helped the lawyer hire staff and open more locations within a year. Donnelly Law Group on the Gold Coast had under 10 monthly visitors; they say 25 new pages made organic traffic surge within four months.
- **Advertising rules:** They say their marketing is "designed to respect the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules".
- **Pricing:** Boutique Grow is A$1,100, Law Firm Grow A$1,700 and Enterprise Grow A$2,500, each monthly. GST not stated. The packages include one, three and six new SEO articles a month. Grow packages are month to month with 30 days' notice, while Launch packages carry a six-month minimum.
- **Their offer:** If you show no meaningful improvement after six months of active SEO, they say they keep working free for up to six more.
- **AI search:** GEO as a free bonus on Grow packages, for a limited number of 2026 clients.
- **Ask them:** How many pages per package?

See [Law Launch's law firm SEO page](https://lawlaunch.com.au/law-firm-seo/).

## 6. Law SEO: best for family law firms that want local exclusivity

Law SEO focuses on family law from Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. Its founder, Mat, previously ran SEO for a Sunshine Coast family law firm, according to that firm's testimonial. It takes three clients per area. A competitor down the road can't hire the same team.

- **Legal proof they publish:** A case study for Shanahan Family Law, which they say now gets 21+ new clients a month.
- **Advertising rules:** None found on the homepage.
- **What they sell:** SEO and web design for family lawyers, through a five-step method covering content, directories and links.
- **Pricing:** Not published. Their form asks for your revenue band.
- **AI search:** None on the homepage, apart from a blog post on AI software for lawyers.
- **Ask them:** Who are the other two clients in my area, and which practice areas do they cover?

See [Law SEO](https://lawseo.com.au/).

## 7. StudioHawk: best for firms that want a large agency

StudioHawk calls itself Australia's largest SEO agency. Its lawyer page promises "ethical, compliant" strategies and says it works with every type of law firm. It suits a larger firm that wants a big team and is comfortable with proof from other industries.

- **Legal proof they publish:** No law firms. The case studies on the lawyer page cover finance, retail and building supplies, such as Sharewise's 1222% increase in organic leads.
- **Advertising rules:** Their FAQ says their content doesn't make misleading or false claims and that they design keywords and tone with compliance in mind.
- **Pricing:** Not published.
- **AI search:** They say they design content to be AI search-friendly for ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
- **Ask them:** Which law firms, by name?

See [StudioHawk's lawyer SEO page](https://studiohawk.com.au/industry/seo-for-lawyers/).

## What advertising rules does law firm SEO have to follow?

Every page on your website is advertising under Rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules. It can't be false, misleading, deceptive, offensive or unlawful. Your agency writes those pages, but the consequences land on your practising certificate, not theirs.

The [Law Society of NSW sets out Rule 36](https://www.lawsociety.com.au/practising-law-in-NSW/ethics-and-compliance/regulatory-compliance/advertising-legal-services) in full. Two parts matter most:

- **Rule 36.1:** advertising, marketing or promotion can't be false, misleading or deceptive, likely to mislead, offensive, or prohibited by law. In my reading, that reaches title tags, meta descriptions, review snippets and FAQ answers as well as the page copy.
- **Rule 36.2:** no misleading specialist claims. Only a solicitor accredited by the relevant professional association can use "accredited specialist" or a derivative. Watch your title tags here.

Injury work is where rules bite hardest. In Queensland, the [Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 limits injury advertising](https://www.qls.com.au/practising-law-in-qld/ethics/australian-solicitors-conduct-rules/rules-resources/what-are-the-rules-about-advertising-for-personal-injury-work), according to the Queensland Law Society. On your own website you can explain how injury law works, a person's rights and the terms you act on, including no win no fee. Other websites are stricter. There you're back to name, contact details and practice areas, with no pictures or self-promotion. That limit catches directory profiles and guest posts, which plenty of SEO agencies build for every client by default.

The fines are real. In February 2026, Proctor reported a Queensland injury principal [fined A$30,000 over "No Win, No Fee" advertising](https://www.qlsproctor.com.au/2026/02/prevalent-advertising-practice-deemed-professional-misconduct-by-qcat/). The ads ran on a hospital billboard, the firm's website and social media. The tribunal raised an agreed A$2,000 fine and called the conduct professional misconduct.

New South Wales is different. The Law Society of NSW notes that the Uniform Law doesn't include the old ban on advertising personal injury services from the repealed 2005 regulation. Firms in both states need two rulebooks.

| Rule | What it means for your SEO pages |
| --- | --- |
| ASCR 36.1 | Every title, snippet and FAQ answer must be accurate |
| ASCR 36.2 | "Accredited specialist" only for accredited solicitors |
| Queensland PIPA | Injury claims only on your own site, never on third-party sites |
| NSW Uniform Law | No blanket injury advertising ban, Rule 36 still applies |

## How should you choose an SEO agency for your law firm?

Choose the agency that shows you legal results, explains the rules for your practice area and names the pages it will build first. Use this checklist on every call.

1. **Ask for a law firm result.** A named firm or a practice type, with the number and the period it took. Results from other industries tell you less.
2. **Ask how they write specialist wording.** If they suggest "specialist" in your titles, ask whether your lawyers hold accreditation from the relevant professional association.
3. **Ask where links and profiles go.** For a Queensland injury firm, third-party pages carry the strictest limits.
4. **Ask for a page plan.** One page per practice area and matter beats one long services page. How many go live in month one?
5. **Ask about Google Maps.** Google says local results are "mainly based on [relevance, distance, and popularity](https://support.google.com/business/answer/7091)". A good agency can explain how it works on your Business Profile, your reviews and the pages for each office.
6. **Ask what ChatGPT says about you now.** An agency selling AI search should show you today's answer for "best family lawyer" in your city.
7. **Ask who writes and who checks.** Does a lawyer at your firm approve each claim before it goes live?

## How much does SEO cost for a law firm in Australia?

Published SEO prices for Australian law firms run from about A$1,100 to A$10,000+ monthly. What moves the price? Your practice area, your number of offices and how much gets built each month. Injury and family law usually cost more to win than wills or conveyancing, because more firms fight for those clients.

| Source | What they publish | Monthly (A$) |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Law Launch, Boutique Grow | Small firms, 1 new article a month | 1,100 (GST not stated) |
| Law Launch, Law Firm Grow | Mid-sized firms, 3 new articles a month | 1,700 (GST not stated) |
| Law Launch, Enterprise Grow | Major cities, 6 new articles a month | 2,500 (GST not stated) |
| Lawyer Growth, cost guide | Market range for law firm SEO retainers | 1,500 to 10,000+ |
| Lawyer Growth, cost guide | Where most agencies sit | 1,500 to 5,000 |

Sources: [Law Launch](https://lawlaunch.com.au/law-firm-seo/) and [Lawyer Growth's law firm marketing cost guide](https://lawyergrowth.com.au/blog-law-firm-marketing-cost/), both read 26 October 2026. Kia Ora Digital's FAQ puts it another way: most firms commit 5 to 10 percent of revenue.

The cheapest number tells you little. Ask each agency what a month buys: how many new pages, how many updated pages, and what happens to your Business Profile. Then price it against what one new matter is worth to your firm. SEO pays where jobs are big. Legal matters usually are.

## How long does SEO take for a law firm?

It depends on your practice area, your city and how many pages go live early, so expect months, not weeks. Law Launch says its Gold Coast criminal law client saw organic traffic surge within four months of 25 new pages.

My own benchmark comes from outside law, at Radiant Roof Repairs. Three high-intent Gold Coast roofing searches reached number one within 90 days. When we reached the map pack it was phone call after phone call: 1,487 calls came off our Google Business Profile. Most of that came through Google Maps. Law is harder in the big cities. Still, the order of work stays the same: office pages, then the Business Profile, then a page for every practice area you want.

## Where does Searchmaxxed fit for a law firm?

Searchmaxxed suits a firm that wants pages built and shipped every week, with each claim checked against Rule 36 before it goes live. We build on a site you own. Each week we bring your Search Console and GA4 data together with Google results, rival firms, legal directories and AI answers. That data picks the next page.

We then do the SEO work itself: technical fixes, practice area and matter pages, office pages, schema, internal links and your Google Business Profile. We build links, reviews and listings too. Injury work stays inside the third-party limits where they apply. Finally, we measure enquiries by practice area and check whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers name your firm.

The full plan for law firms is on our [law firm SEO page](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/industries/legal-seo).

## Frequently asked questions

### Is SEO allowed under Australian legal advertising rules?

Yes, it's allowed. Every page, title tag and snippet counts as advertising under Rule 36, so none of it can be false, misleading, deceptive or offensive. Queensland injury firms face extra limits under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002.

### What are the advertising rules for Australian law firms?

Rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules bans false, misleading or offensive advertising. Only accredited solicitors may say "accredited specialist". Queensland restricts personal injury advertising, especially on websites other than your own. Check every state you practise in.

### How much does SEO cost for a law firm?

Published prices for Australian law firm SEO run from about A$1,100 to A$10,000+ monthly. Law Launch publishes packages at A$1,100, A$1,700 and A$2,500, while Lawyer Growth's guide puts most agencies between A$1,500 and A$5,000.

### Should each practice area have its own page?

Yes. A page listing eight practice areas competes for none of them, because Google has nothing exact to match to "unfair dismissal lawyer Parramatta". Give each practice area and its main matters a page that answers the client's first question and shows them how to book a consultation.

### What makes SEO for lawyers different from other industries?

Three things: the conduct rules, the cost of a lost click, and trust. Pages must stay accurate under Rule 36. Injury and family law searches are some of the most contested in Australia, and clients check reviews and lawyer profiles before they call anyone.

### Can I cancel law firm SEO at any time?

It depends on the agency. Law Launch's Grow packages run month to month with 30 days' notice, while its Launch packages carry a six-month minimum. Get terms and notice in writing.

### Do law firms need AI search optimisation as well as SEO?

Yes, if your clients ask ChatGPT or Google's AI answers which lawyer to call. Those answers draw on pages that rank, plus directories, reviews and mentions across the web. The two now overlap. Ask how an agency tracks both.
