## Key takeaways

Choose Profound for enterprise depth and Scrunch for a published mid-market price, then plan for the work neither tracker does.

| Your situation | Pick |
| --- | --- |
| Enterprise, many engines, regions and teams | Profound Enterprise |
| Mid-market, want a price before a sales call | Scrunch Core |
| You run Sitecore or want AI-ready pages for bots | Scrunch Enterprise |
| You need real prompt demand before choosing prompts | Profound |
| You want ChatGPT and Google to name you | Searchmaxxed, alongside either tool |

Both vendors offer a 7-day free trial. Run the same 30 buyer questions through each one in the same week, and compare what comes back before you sign anything.

Profound fits enterprise teams that want up to nine AI engines tracked daily, real prompt demand data and AI agents, on a custom contract. Scrunch fits mid-market teams that want a published price: USD 250 a month for 125 prompts across four engines and five site audits. Its Enterprise plan adds AI-ready pages for bots.

Both show where you stand in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews. Neither one, by itself, gets you named.

That part is our work. Searchmaxxed is our company, and we sell neither platform. We make your company the answer in Google and in the AI engines your buyers ask, then turn those answers into high-intent leads and pipeline. Every plan detail below comes from Profound's and Scrunch's own pricing and product pages, exactly as they stood on 1 November 2026.

## How do Profound and Scrunch compare at a glance?

Profound is the deeper platform, sold as a custom Enterprise contract after a free trial. Scrunch publishes a paid entry plan, runs prompts less often by default and has belonged to Sitecore since June 2026.

| Platform | Best for | Cost (as published) | Engines tracked |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Profound | Enterprise teams wanting daily runs, demand data and agents | Free 7-day Trial; Enterprise custom | 3 on Trial; up to 9 on Enterprise |
| Scrunch | Mid-market teams wanting a self-serve paid plan | USD 250 a month (Core); Enterprise custom | 4 on Core; 9 on Enterprise |

Here's the detail that decides a contract. A prompt, in both tools, is a question the tool puts to an AI engine on your behalf.

| What you're checking | Profound | Scrunch |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Lowest paid plan for brands | Enterprise, custom price | Core, USD 250 a month |
| Free trial | 7 days, 50 prompts run daily | 7 days of Core, credit card required |
| Prompts | 50 on Trial; custom on Enterprise | 125 on Core; custom on Enterprise |
| How often each prompt runs | Daily | Daily for 14 days, then every 72 hours by default |
| Engines on the entry plan | ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot |
| Engines on Enterprise | Adds Perplexity, AI Mode, Copilot, Claude, DeepSeek, Exa Search | Adds Claude, Gemini, Meta AI, AI Mode, Grok |
| Prompt demand data | Prompt Volumes, from double opt-in user panels | AI Search Trends, topic-level estimates |
| AI bot traffic | Agent Analytics, unlimited domains | Agent Traffic on Core; multi-domain on Enterprise |
| Pages served to AI bots | Not on its pricing page | Agent Pages (AXP), Enterprise only |
| Content help | AI Marketer agents, priced in credits | 1 page optimisation a month on Core |
| Seats | Unlimited on both plans | 5 on Core; custom on Enterprise |
| Security | SOC 2 Type II; SAML or OIDC SSO | SOC 2 Type II; SAML or OIDC SSO on Enterprise |
| API and exports | Enterprise: API, CSV and JSON | Enterprise: Query API, Looker Studio, MCP |
| Shopping | ChatGPT Shopping on Enterprise | Product Observability on Enterprise |

## What does Profound do best?

Profound's edge is depth. It runs every tracked prompt daily on up to nine answer engines, and it shows which questions real people put to AI. Then its agents help you act.

Start with monitoring. Answer Engine Insights tracks your visibility score and share of voice, which is your share of brand mentions against the competitors you track. It logs sentiment and sources too. Profound says it queries "the front-end experiences that normal users see" rather than each model's API.

Demand data comes next.

Profound's Prompt Volumes licenses tens of millions of real prompts a month from double opt-in consumer panels, then models them up to the market. That lets you choose the questions worth tracking from what people ask, rather than from a keyword list built for Google.

The agent layer is the third piece. Profound's AI Marketer runs on credits. Its Agents take on repeat marketing jobs like research, drafting and reporting, and a Context Manager feeds them your brand facts.

Agent Analytics shows which AI crawlers visit your site and how often, through Akamai, AWS, Cloudflare, Fastly, Google Cloud, Netlify, Vercel and WordPress.

Enterprise buyers get SOC 2 Type II, SAML or OIDC single sign-on, unlimited seats and support up to a dedicated specialist on a 24-hour SLA. Profound says its enterprise capabilities are "trusted by a third of the Fortune 100".

Pick Profound if you want the widest daily read on how AI describes your category, so your team acts on real demand.

## What does Scrunch do best?

Scrunch's edge is a fast, priced way in. Its Core plan costs USD 250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, four engines, five site audits and AI bot traffic tracking. Enterprise adds Agent Pages, which hand AI bots a clean version of your pages.

Monitoring covers brand presence, placement, sentiment and citations, split by persona and funnel stage. Setup is light: Scrunch builds your first competitors, personas and topics from your website, and says many customers start collecting data within a day.

Then it looks at your site. The audits check how AI reads your pages, and Agent Traffic sorts bot visits into training, indexing and retrieval. Retrieval bots fetch a page to answer a live question.

Those are the visits tied to real prompts.

For human visitors, AI Referrals connects to GA4 or Adobe Analytics and reports visits and conversions from AI platforms.

Agent Pages belongs to what Scrunch calls its Agent Experience Platform (AXP). It serves JavaScript-free HTML to AI retrieval bots, and Scrunch says it skips Googlebot and Bingbot and doesn't count as cloaking. Scrunch reports that Akamai's AXP-enabled pages appeared 364% more often in AI answers to non-branded prompts than comparable pages without it.

Sitecore acquired Scrunch on 3 June 2026. Sitecore says Scrunch's recommendations will be automated inside its SitecoreAI content tools, while Scrunch keeps selling on its own with public pricing. If you already run Sitecore, that's a direct line from insight to a published page.

Pick Scrunch if you want AI visibility tracking live this week at a known price, so you can prove the case before a bigger contract.

## How much do Profound and Scrunch cost in 2026?

Scrunch Core costs USD 250 a month and Agency Core USD 500 a month, while Profound publishes a free Trial and a custom Enterprise plan. Both vendors price Enterprise on a call.

| Plan | Published price | What it includes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Profound Trial | Free for 7 days | 50 prompts daily, 3 engines, limited AI Marketer credits |
| Profound Enterprise | Custom | Tailored prompts, up to 9 engines, SSO, dedicated support |
| Scrunch Core | USD 250 a month | 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, 4 engines, 5 site audits |
| Scrunch Enterprise | Custom | Custom prompts, 9 engines, AXP, API, SSO |
| Scrunch Agency Core | USD 500 a month | Agency plan for several client brands |

Price matters less than sample size.

AI engines change their answers from one run to the next, and Profound's own page says so: AI platforms "don't return the same answer twice". So the more often a tool asks each question, the steadier your score. Here's the maths:

| Plan | Prompts x engines | How often each runs | Answers per prompt, per engine |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Scrunch Core | 125 x 4 | Every 72 hours after day 14 | About 10 a month |
| Profound Trial | 50 x 3 | Daily for 7 days | 7 in the trial week |
| Profound Enterprise | Custom x up to 9 | Daily | About 30 a month |

That's where Scrunch's 5,000 monthly responses come from: 125 prompts on four engines, refreshed every three days. Scrunch lets you refresh any prompt sooner, which helps when a product launch or a board meeting needs a fresh read.

## Is Profound or Scrunch better for mid-market teams?

Scrunch, for most mid-market teams. Core is the only published paid plan for brands across the two vendors, and 125 prompts covers a focused market well. Profound makes more sense if you need Gemini or Claude tracked, or if you'll sign an enterprise contract to get daily runs.

Take a 400-person cybersecurity company as a worked example. It sells two products and tracks 30 buyer questions at each of four buying stages: the problem, the category, comparisons, and price and proof. That's 120 prompts.

Five to spare on Scrunch Core.

Check the engine list before you sign. Scrunch Core tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Copilot, and adds Gemini and Claude only on Enterprise. ChatGPT is the one to cover first. [G2's 2026 survey of 1,076 B2B buyers](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/new-g2-research-half-of-b2b-software-buyers-now-start-their-research-with-ai-chatbots-302742807.html) found it's the dominant chatbot for software research, at 63%.

Core has limits. It tracks one country, one persona, one language and five competitors, with five user licences, while API access and Looker Studio wait on Enterprise.

## Is Profound or Scrunch better for enterprise teams?

Profound, for enterprise teams that need daily runs across many engines, regions and business units. Scrunch Enterprise suits teams that already run Sitecore, or that want Agent Pages serving AI-ready versions of their site to bots.

Security is close to a tie. Each says it holds SOC 2 Type II, an independent audit of its security controls, and each offers SAML or OIDC single sign-on on Enterprise. Both keep API access for Enterprise customers.

Ask both vendors these questions before procurement starts, and get the answers in writing so you can compare them line by line:

| Ask | Why it matters |
| --- | --- |
| Which engines, countries and languages are in our contract? | Entry plans cover one country and a few engines |
| How often does each prompt run? | More runs give a steadier score |
| Can our team edit and add prompts? | Profound's Trial prompts are fixed |
| What happens at our prompt or credit limit? | Overages can change your monthly bill |
| Does the API return raw answers? | Your analysts may want their own reports |
| Scrunch: how will Sitecore's roadmap affect non-Sitecore customers? | Scrunch now sits inside Sitecore |
| Profound: how many credits will our agent work use? | Agent runs bill in credits |

Profound's pricing page answers part of the credit question. Each agent run uses credits relative to its complexity, and you choose overage billing or a pause at the limit.

## How do Profound and Scrunch collect AI answers?

Profound says it captures answers from the same consumer websites people use, not through each model's API. Scrunch says it uses browser automation plus official platform APIs, checked against a large and continually updated dataset of real responses.

Does that matter? Sometimes.

If an API answer drifts from what a logged-out buyer sees, your score drifts with it. So test it. During each trial, run ten of your prompts by hand in a private browser window, then compare your notes with the tool's results.

The demand data differs too. Profound's Prompt Volumes works at the level of single prompts, refreshes weekly and comes from licensed consumer panels. Scrunch's AI Search Trends estimates volume for whole topics from third-party panel data, and Scrunch calls it "directional, not exact".

## What do they show about AI bot traffic?

Both tools track AI crawlers on your site and AI-referred visits through GA4. Profound's Agent Analytics plugs into your CDN or host and shows which AI bots visit, how often and which pages they prefer. Scrunch's Agent Traffic does the same job.

Treat the human numbers with care, because analytics tools can mistake bots for people, as we saw on a client's account:

A client's GA4 showed AI-assistant visits jump from 354 to 6,050 in a month. Almost none of it was real. About 5,700 came in three one-hour bursts: same 1920x1080 desktop Chrome, all new users, no referrer, about 20 seconds each, landing on two pages. Real AI traffic was 385 sessions against 354 the month before, roughly flat.

A tool that separates training, indexing and retrieval bots helps you catch this early, and so does opening the sessions behind any spike.

## What can't Profound or Scrunch do for you?

Neither tool can make other websites mention you, win you reviews or lift your pages in Google. Both show the gap and suggest fixes.

Someone still has to do the work.

AI answers lean on a short list of trusted sources, and when we tested ChatGPT on questions about our own industry, that list was tiny:

Across 900 ChatGPT answers about Australian agencies, a single third-party "best agencies" site was cited in 168 of them. The next three were a second listicle, Semrush's agency directory and Clutch. If you want to be recommended, the job is getting onto the handful of pages the model already trusts.

A tracker finds those pages. Getting onto them takes rankings, review profiles, sharp question-led pages and mentions in the lists and press your buyers trust. That's the work people call AEO (answer engine optimisation) or GEO (generative engine optimisation).

Our guide to [showing up in AI search](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/research/how-to-show-up-in-ai-search) walks through that work for every engine. For ChatGPT, the engine most B2B buyers ask first, our guide on [how to rank in ChatGPT](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/research/how-to-rank-in-chatgpt) goes deeper on what gets a company named.

Profound's agents draft content, and Scrunch Core includes one page optimisation a month. Drafts help. They can't replace the mentions, reviews and rankings an engine weighs before it recommends anyone.

If neither platform fits your budget, our list of [Profound alternatives](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/research/profound-alternatives) covers lower-priced trackers, and our roundup of [AI visibility tools](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/research/ai-visibility-tools) compares the wider field.

## Is Searchmaxxed right for you?

We're a strong fit if you're a law firm, clinic or premium builder that's losing ground in Google or missing from AI answers. Maybe your current SEO team hasn't caught up. You want buyers to hear your name when they ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity who to choose.

Here's what you get.

You talk to the people doing the work, with no account manager in between. We go after the searches and AI answers that bring buyers, then put your name on the pages those answers trust. We track what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews say about you. Then we trace which searches and answers turn into revenue, through your CRM as well as GA4.

You own your site, content and data from day one, and the full scope sits on our [AI search optimisation service](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/services/ai-search-optimization) page.

One client came to us with a website that wasn't working. Three months later he was on page one for one of the most competitive searches in his industry. Now he has more high-intent leads than he can handle, and we're building the systems to handle them.

The bigger picture:

Searchmaxxed's work has generated more than $15 million in revenue through search for its clients.

“I can't believe this worked.” That's what we hear. Clients tell us they finally found a growth partner in search that keeps its word and gets things done.

We're the wrong call in two cases. If you only want a dashboard of AI mentions to run in-house, buy Profound or Scrunch and keep the work inside your team. And if you need leads this month just to survive, search takes longer than that.

## What should you do next?

Shortlist on fit, then test. Write 30 buyer questions across your four buying stages and run them through both free trials in the same week. Compare the engines each one covers, how often it reran your questions and whether its results match what you see by hand.

Then decide who'll close the gaps the tool finds.

Want us to do it with you, from the first test to the last fix?. We'll benchmark you against your top competitors across Google, ChatGPT and the other AI engines. We'll show you where they're named instead of you, and the few moves that will matter most.

## Frequently asked questions

### Was Scrunch acquired?

Yes. Sitecore acquired Scrunch on 3 June 2026 and is connecting it to SitecoreAI, its content and digital experience platform. Scrunch still sells on its own, with public pricing for its Core plan and a custom Enterprise plan.

### Does Profound have a free trial?

Yes. Profound's Trial is free for 7 days and runs 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Trial users get a fixed, recommended prompt set with no history, exports or API. Enterprise opens custom prompts and up to nine engines.

### How much does Scrunch cost?

Scrunch Core costs USD 250 a month for 125 prompts, 5,000 responses, four engines and five site audits, while Enterprise pricing is custom. Agencies pay USD 500 a month for Agency Core. The 7-day free trial needs a credit card and rolls into a paid plan unless you cancel.

### Which tracks more AI engines, Profound or Scrunch?

Both reach nine on Enterprise. Each Enterprise list covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, then Profound adds DeepSeek and Exa Search. Scrunch adds Meta AI and Grok instead. On entry plans, Profound's Trial tracks three engines and Scrunch Core tracks four.

### Is Scrunch's Agent Pages considered cloaking?

Scrunch says no. Agent Pages serves JavaScript-free HTML to AI retrieval bots only, not Googlebot or Bingbot, with the same content and intent as the human page. [Google's spam policies](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/essentials/spam-policies) define cloaking as showing users and search engines different content to manipulate rankings and mislead users. Have your SEO lead review it first.

### What's the difference between Profound's Prompt Volumes and Scrunch's AI Search Trends?

Profound's Prompt Volumes estimates demand for single prompts from licensed, double opt-in consumer panels, refreshed weekly. Scrunch's AI Search Trends estimates demand for whole topics from third-party panel data, which Scrunch calls "directional, not exact". Either helps you pick prompts.

### Do you need an AI visibility tool to show up in ChatGPT?

No. A tool measures where you appear, and showing up takes other work. You get into ChatGPT's answers by ranking for your buyers' questions, letting its crawler reach your pages and getting named on the sites it cites. A tool tracks the progress.
