## Key takeaways

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is a fairly priced AI tracker for teams already on Semrush, and it measures your visibility rather than raising it.

- It costs $99 monthly per domain, with 25 tracked prompts and no free trial.
- Prefer one bill? Semrush One bundles it with the full SEO Toolkit from $199 monthly, and lifts your daily prompt allowance to 50.
- It covers ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Brand Performance adds Perplexity; Semrush's help pages don't list Claude.
- Semrush calls its own numbers "directional signals".
- Running many brands or markets? Look at Semrush Enterprise AIO, which Semrush prices to order.

Need buyers to hear your name? Start with a free search analysis.

The Semrush AI Toolkit, which Semrush now calls the AI Visibility Toolkit, is a $99-a-month add-on that tracks your brand in AI answers. It covers ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews and shows which rivals they name instead of you. Buy it if your team already lives in Semrush and wants AI numbers sitting right beside the keyword data it checks every morning. It tells you where you stand.

Getting named is our job. Here at Searchmaxxed, we make [law firms](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/industries/legal-seo), [clinics](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/industries/healthcare-seo) and [premium builders](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/industries/construction-seo) the answer in Google and in the AI engines their buyers ask. Then we turn those answers into a steady flow of high-intent leads and pipeline. We use Semrush in our own research, so we know where the toolkit helps and where your team's work starts.

## What is the Semrush AI Toolkit?

The Semrush AI Toolkit is Semrush's set of reports for AI search: it shows how AI platforms mention, cite and describe your brand beside competitors. Semrush's knowledge base calls it the AI Visibility Toolkit, its product page FAQ still says AI SEO Toolkit, and many reviews say AI Toolkit. Same product, three names.

Semrush says it built the toolkit with "SMBs, agencies, and mid-market companies in mind". That one line explains most of the trade-offs that follow, especially for enterprise teams with many brands. Inside, you get six reports:

| Report | What it shows you | How often it updates |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Visibility Overview | Your AI Visibility Score, mentions, citations and topic gaps | Daily, rolling |
| Competitor Research | You against up to four rivals, by topic and source | Daily, rolling |
| Prompt Research | AI topic volume, difficulty and intent | Daily, rolling |
| Brand Performance | Share of voice, sentiment and what drives them | Weekly |
| Prompt Tracking | Daily positions and mentions for prompts you choose | Daily |
| AI Search Site Audit | Whether AI crawlers can reach and read your site | Each time you crawl |

Two words come up in every report. A **mention** is an AI answer that names your brand. A **citation** is an AI answer that links to one of your pages as a source. You want both. Better still, you want the AI to recommend you.

The AI Visibility Score runs from 0 to 100. Semrush blends two things into it: topic coverage (how many topics include you) and mention consistency (how often you appear within them). Semrush's own example helps. Google and Reddit turn up across many topics but only once each, while Lego appears in fewer and dominates them, so Lego scores higher.

## How much does the Semrush AI Toolkit cost?

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 monthly per domain, according to Semrush's knowledge base and pricing page on 1 November 2026. That buys one project and one Brand Performance domain. You also get 25 tracked prompts, 300 AI reports a day and AI checks on up to 100 pages in Site Audit. There's no free trial.

Semrush also folds AI features into its main plans, so the toolkit is one rung on a longer ladder, shown here in US dollars:

| Plan | Per month | AI prompts tracked daily | What else you get |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AI Visibility Toolkit (Base) | $99 per domain | 25 | 1 Brand Performance domain, 300 AI reports a day |
| Semrush SEO | $139, or $117.33 billed annually | No dedicated quota | SEO Toolkit, basic AI reports and sentiment |
| Semrush One Starter | $199, or $165.17 billed annually | 50 | SEO Toolkit, full AI toolkit, 5 websites |
| Semrush One Pro+ | $299, or $248.17 billed annually | 100 | 15 websites, 1,500 keywords, content tools |
| Semrush One Advanced | Custom | Unlimited | 40+ websites, API access, team users |
| Semrush Enterprise | Custom | Custom, large scale | SSO, audit logs, ROI attribution |
| Free | $0 | Limited AI features | 10 reports a day, 1 demo project |

The add-ons are where the bill grows. Semrush lists them in its knowledge base and on its pricing page:

- **Another Brand Performance domain or location:** $99 monthly each.
- **50 more tracked prompts:** $60 monthly.
- **A teammate:** their own $99 toolkit licence, on top of the user seat. Extra users start at $45 monthly.

The SEO plan has some AI reports. But Semrush says it lacks "the full AI visibility feature set": no prompt-tracking quota, no AI-ready Site Audit and no per-domain Brand Performance.

### What does the Semrush AI Toolkit cost a B2B team?

Say you run demand generation at a cybersecurity company selling in the US and the UK, and you want 75 prompts tracked daily. Brand Performance needs to cover both markets. On the standalone toolkit, the sums look like this:

| Line item | Per month (USD) |
| --- | --- |
| AI Visibility Toolkit, US | $99 |
| Second Brand Performance location, UK | $99 |
| 50 extra prompts (25 to 75) | $60 |
| **Total** | **$258** |

Add a colleague and you pay another $99 licence, plus their seat. Already paying for Semrush SEO? Then Semrush One Pro+ deserves a look, at $299 monthly for 100 prompts and the whole SEO Toolkit. The setup above plus the SEO plan costs $397. Ask Semrush what a second Brand Performance location adds on Semrush One, because that line decides which route works out cheaper.

## Which AI engines does the Semrush AI Toolkit track?

The answer depends on the report. Three reports share Semrush's prompt database: Visibility Overview, Competitor Research and Prompt Research. They cover ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Brand Performance adds Perplexity. Prompt Tracking watches ChatGPT Search, AI Mode and Gemini, while AI Overviews live in Semrush's classic Position Tracking tool, which every plan includes.

| Report | ChatGPT | Gemini | AI Overviews | AI Mode | Perplexity | Claude |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Visibility Overview, Competitor Research, Prompt Research | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | Not listed |
| Brand Performance | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Not listed |
| Prompt Tracking | Yes | Yes | Via Position Tracking | Yes | No | Not listed |

That's how Semrush's help pages split coverage on 1 November 2026. The pricing page lists Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, then adds "& more", so if your buyers lean on Claude, ask Semrush first.

Country coverage varies too. The prompt-database reports cover 42 countries plus a worldwide view. Brand Performance offers more than 68,000 locations, from cities to whole countries, and Prompt Tracking supports more than 220 countries and territories.

## Where does Semrush get its AI data, and how accurate is it?

Semrush builds most reports from its own prompt database of more than 317 million prompts and responses, spread across 117 regional databases. Semrush says it captures those answers "from real requests and not via any APIs of LLMs". Brand Performance works another way. It runs synthetic prompts, a mix of branded and non-branded questions Semrush generates for your domain, and the reports refresh weekly.

How accurate is it? Semrush answers that on its own data page, saying "no platform can provide exact numbers on visibility" and calling its metrics "reliable directional signals". We agree, and our own testing shows why:

We put 300 Australian agency-buyer questions to ChatGPT three times each, with search on. It pulled 17,870 search results into those 900 answers and kept 4,389 as sources. Being found is the easy part. About three in four results it reads never make the answer.

With that much reading and so little keeping, the same prompt can name you on Monday and drop you by Tuesday. So treat a weekly score like weather. Judge the trend across a month or more, on a fixed set of prompts, and spot-check a few answers by hand.

## What does Semrush mean by AI SEO, and what will the toolkit tell you to fix?

Semrush uses "AI SEO" to mean getting your brand mentioned and cited in AI answers, and its toolkit points you at three kinds of fix:

- **Topic gaps:** Visibility Overview's Topic Opportunities and Competitor Research's Missing Topics list prompts where rivals get named and you don't. Each gap is a page you should own.
- **Source gaps:** Missing Sources lists sites that AI answers cite for competitors but not for you. Prompt Tracking's Sources report goes further, suggesting how to earn a mention from each cited page.
- **Technical blockers:** the AI Search Health score in Site Audit checks crawler access, structured data and internal links. Semrush suggests setting the audit's user agent to OpenAI-Search, to see your site the way ChatGPT search sees it.

Fix blocked crawlers first. As Semrush's help page puts it, AI systems can't cite content they can't crawl. The audit also checks for llms.txt, which Google lists among the unnecessary AI text files you can ignore for Search, so that item can wait.

Source gaps deserve the most attention. AI answers lean on a short list of outside pages, and in our own ChatGPT panel, Semrush's own agency directory made that list:

Across 900 ChatGPT answers about Australian agencies, a single third-party "best agencies" site was cited in 168 of them. The next three were a second listicle, Semrush's agency directory and Clutch. If you want to be recommended, the job is getting onto the handful of pages the model already trusts.

The toolkit can show you those pages. Getting your company onto them takes comparison pages, reviews, digital PR and steady relationships with editors. For the whole plan, engine by engine, read our guide to [showing up in AI search](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/research/how-to-show-up-in-ai-search).

## Can Semrush show whether AI visibility turns into pipeline?

Not in the standard toolkit yet. On 1 November 2026, Semrush's AI Visibility page listed a Google Analytics connection, for reporting "actual traffic and conversions via AI", as coming soon. Semrush Enterprise does list "Forecasting & ROI attribution" and GA4 or Adobe Analytics traffic data, at a custom price.

Until then, most teams pull AI traffic straight from GA4, and that number needs checking before it goes in any board deck. Here's what we found when we checked a client's account:

A client's GA4 showed AI-assistant visits jump from 354 to 6,050 in a month. Almost none of it was real. About 5,700 came in three one-hour bursts: same 1920x1080 desktop Chrome, all new users, no referrer, about 20 seconds each, landing on two pages. Real AI traffic was 385 sessions against 354 the month before, roughly flat.

So strip the bots out first. Then follow the real visits through to enquiries and deals in your CRM, because pipeline is the number your board cares about.

For Google's own AI features, add Search Console's free Generative AI performance report. Google opened it to every site on 31 August 2026, and it shows AI Overviews and AI Mode impressions by page, country and device. Our guide to [tracking AI visibility](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/research/how-to-track-ai-visibility) shows how to fit Search Console, GA4 and prompt tests together into one monthly report your team trusts.

## Is the Semrush AI Toolkit worth it?

Yes, if you already use Semrush. Then it earns its keep by putting AI visibility beside the keyword rankings you track, with no second login, contract or monthly report.

It fits well when:

- Your SEO lead already works in Semrush.
- You track one brand, maybe in one or two markets.
- ChatGPT and Google's AI features matter more to your buyers than Claude or Perplexity do.
- You have people with the time to write the pages and chase the sources the reports point to, week after week.

Look at something else when:

- Your buyers use Claude, which Semrush's help pages don't list.
- You run many brands, products or regions. Semrush built its Enterprise plan for that, with SSO, custom prompt volumes and a dedicated account manager.
- You need revenue attribution now, before Semrush adds it to the toolkit.
- You want the results themselves, and nobody on your team has the hours to chase every gap the reports find each month.

The toolkit hands you a to-do list. Somebody still has to write the pages, win the mentions on other sites and fix whatever blocks the crawlers on your own site.

## Which fits you: the toolkit, Semrush One, Enterprise AIO or a search team?

Pick the toolkit to watch one brand, Semrush One if you'd pay for Semrush SEO anyway, and Enterprise AIO for many brands and markets. Pick a search team when you need the outcome itself. Searchmaxxed is ours, so it goes first.

| Option | Best for | Price (as published) | AI engines tracked |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Searchmaxxed | High-value firms and enterprises | Quoted after a free search analysis | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Overviews |
| AI Visibility Toolkit | One brand, watched in-house | $99 monthly per domain | ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode; Perplexity in Brand Performance |
| Semrush One | Teams running SEO and AI tracking together | $199 to $299 monthly, Advanced custom | Google Search, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, "& more" |
| Semrush Enterprise AIO | Many brands, regions and teams | Custom pricing | Across AI models; confirm the list with Semrush |

Semrush tells you where you stand. We change where you stand, and a tracker running alongside us is a fair way to keep score on that work.

## How do you get the most out of the Semrush AI Toolkit?

Feed it the right prompts, fix access first, then work the source gaps every month. Here's the 30-day order:

1. **Write 25 prompts from sales calls.** Use buyer questions such as "best SIEM for a 200-person fintech", and keep your brand name out of most of them.
2. **Run the AI Search Site Audit** with the OpenAI-Search user agent, and unblock any AI crawler your robots.txt file or firewall turns away.
3. **Benchmark four competitors** in Competitor Research. Export the Missing Topics and Missing Sources lists.
4. **Turn topic gaps into pages.** Give each one a page that answers the buyer's question in its first lines, in words a buyer would use.
5. **Work the source list.** Rank cited sites by how often they appear across your prompts, then go after the top ten.
6. **Review monthly, on the same prompts.** Weekly swings are noise. A three-month trend is a signal.
7. **Clean GA4 before you report.** Filter bot bursts out of the AI Assistant channel, then match the real sessions to enquiries in your CRM.

## Is Searchmaxxed right for you?

We're a strong fit if you're a law firm, clinic or premium builder that's losing ground in Google or missing from AI answers. Perhaps your current SEO team hasn't caught up. You want your company named when buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google who to choose, and you want results you can trace to pipeline.

Here's what you get. You talk to the people doing the work, with no account manager in between. We go after the searches and AI answers that bring buyers, then put your name on the pages those answers trust. We track which searches and AI answers turn into revenue, through your CRM as well as GA4. And you own your site, content and data from day one. Our [AI search optimisation service](https://www.searchmaxxed.com/services/ai-search-optimization) page sets out the full scope, from technical SEO and content to digital PR and AI answer tracking.

One client came to us with a website that wasn't working. Three months later he was on page one for one of the most competitive searches in his industry. Now he has more high-intent leads than he can handle, and we're building the systems to handle them.

Across the whole client book:

Searchmaxxed's work has generated more than $15 million in revenue through search for its clients.

"I can't believe this worked." That's what we hear. Clients tell us they finally found a growth partner in search that keeps its word and gets things done.

We're the wrong call in two cases. If you need leads this month just to survive, search takes longer than that. And if all you want is a dashboard of AI mentions for your own team to watch, buy the Semrush toolkit and keep it in-house.

## What should you do next?

Start by running your domain through Semrush's free AI Visibility Checker, then ask the harder question: why do competitors get named when you don't?

That's what our audit answers.. We'll benchmark you against your top competitors across Google, ChatGPT and the other AI engines. We'll show you where they're named instead of you, and the few moves that will matter most.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit have a free trial?

No. Semrush's knowledge base says the AI Visibility Toolkit has no free trial. Semrush One plans show a "Try for free" button, and the Free plan includes a limited set of AI features. Semrush's free AI Visibility Checker also scores any domain across ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews.

### Is the AI Visibility Toolkit included in Semrush One?

Yes. Semrush One's Starter, Pro+ and Advanced plans bundle the SEO Toolkit and the AI Visibility Toolkit, starting at $199 monthly. The cheaper SEO plan at $139 monthly includes only some AI reports, with no prompt-tracking quota.

### Does Semrush track Claude?

Not according to Semrush's pages. On 1 November 2026, none of its AI Visibility Toolkit help pages listed Claude among the engines it covers. They name ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, with Perplexity in Brand Performance. The pricing page adds "& more", so ask Semrush directly if Claude matters to your buyers.

### Can my whole team use one AI Visibility Toolkit subscription?

No. Each user needs their own toolkit licence, at $99 monthly on top of their user seat. Brand Performance campaigns appear for every teammate with a licence, but to share anything else you export CSV files or build a My Reports document. Each user gets 10 CSV exports a day, with up to 1,000 rows in each.

### How often does Semrush update AI visibility data?

Visibility Overview, Competitor Research and Prompt Research update daily on a rolling basis. Prompt Tracking updates daily, Brand Performance weekly, and the AI Search Site Audit whenever you run a crawl.

### How accurate is Semrush's AI visibility data?

Semrush calls its AI metrics "reliable directional signals" and says no platform can give exact visibility numbers. AI answers change between runs. So read the trend across weeks on a fixed prompt set, then check a sample of answers yourself in each engine.

### Is the Semrush AI Toolkit the same as the AI Visibility Toolkit?

Yes. Semrush calls the product the AI Visibility Toolkit in its knowledge base and on its pricing page. Older reviews call it the AI Toolkit, and Semrush's product page FAQ still says AI SEO Toolkit.
