Cybersecurity SEO for Security Vendors and MSSPs
What does cybersecurity SEO do for a security company?
Cybersecurity SEO gets your product or managed service found and chosen when the people who buy security go looking. They are the engineer who tests it, the CISO who owns the risk and the procurement team that checks your paperwork. Security deals are large, so one missed shortlist can cost you a contract you never knew was on offer.
Cyber security marketing has also moved into AI answers. In G2's 2026 survey of 1,076 B2B software buyers, 51% said they now start research in an AI chatbot more often than in Google, and chatbots were the top source shaping who makes the shortlist. So we go after your name in those answers as well as in Google.
Searchmaxxed is an AI-native search team. We make your company the answer in Google and in the AI engines your buyers ask.

Why do security buyers shortlist your competitors instead?
Security buyers shortlist your competitors because most security sites give Google and the AI engines little they can quote. Most offer a product page, a blog and a gated data sheet. In G2's 2026 survey, 69% of buyers chose a different vendor than planned because of a chatbot's guidance. One in three bought from a vendor they'd never heard of.
In our own test, 1 Nov 2026, ChatGPT ran 74 searches for 12 security shortlist questions, and 61 of them named a specific vendor before it had read a single result. It drew up the list from what it already knew, then checked each name on the vendor's own site. If your facts aren't there, a rival's are.
Your fit facts live in a sales deck
Seat limits, deployment options and platform coverage decide who makes the list. When they sit in a gated PDF, ChatGPT has nothing of yours to quote, and it can quote a competitor's open data sheet instead.
Rivals write the comparison lists
In our own test, 1 Nov 2026, 99 of Perplexity's 120 citations were “best”, “top” or “alternatives” lists, and 66 of those sat on security vendors' or providers' own sites. They rank you in whatever order suits them.
Claims a procurement reviewer won't accept
ASD says IRAP assessors don't accredit or register systems, Gartner says it doesn't endorse any vendor, and MITRE's ATT&CK Evaluations don't rank vendors. “IRAP certified” or “MITRE winner” costs you trust in the room that matters.
A security stack that blocks the crawlers
Google's guidance asks that crawling is allowed in robots.txt and by any CDN or hosting infrastructure. Strict bot rules can hide your best pages from Google and the AI engines alike.

What does SEO for cybersecurity companies cost in Australia?
In a competitive market, cybersecurity SEO in Australia means budgeting for a serious program rather than a starter package. StudioHawk, one of Australia's larger agencies, puts comprehensive SEO for national and ecommerce brands at $5,000 or more a month. It puts growth-focused work at $1,500 to $3,000.
Audits and site migrations are usually quoted as projects, from about $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the site.
The right budget depends on how competitive your searches are and how much of the work your site needs. We quote each business after a free growth plan, and we don't publish prices.
How do CISOs and security teams search for a vendor?
CISOs and security teams search for vendors by starting with the problem, building a shortlist, setting you against the leader, then putting you through procurement. Few start with your name. AI sits in every step now. In G2's 2026 survey, comparing vendors' strengths and weaknesses was the most common way buyers used AI chatbots in software research.
1. Naming the problem
A security lead works out which category fits and how the options differ. A plain, accurate answer from your team frames the decision before any vendor is named.
2. Building the shortlist
Next comes the list, often typed straight into ChatGPT or Perplexity. Your category, service and location pages, plus the lists and reviews the engines read, decide whether you're on it.
3. Comparing you with the leader
Buyers search the market leader's name plus “alternatives” or “vs”. If you don't publish a fair comparison, a competitor's page decides how you look.
4. Getting through procurement
Late in the deal, GRC and procurement teams check your frameworks and reports. Open compliance pages with the scope and date of each one keep you in the deal.

How will you know cybersecurity SEO is working?
You'll know cybersecurity SEO is working from demo requests, qualified opportunities and pipeline, which we measure by category and market. We also track which searches and AI answers turned into revenue, for example through your CRM. What brings in pipeline tells us where to go next.
Google counts clicks from AI Overviews and AI Mode in the Search Console Performance report, under the Web search type. So our numbers cover classic results and Google's AI answers together, and we check ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini ourselves. Each month you get a decision memo: what moved, what it's worth and what we do next.
Pipeline from search
GA4 and your CRM count the demo requests, trials and opportunities each page brings in, so you see which categories pay.
Rankings by category and market
We track category, comparison, alternatives and compliance searches in each market you sell to, so a gain in one never hides a loss in another.
Who the AI shortlists name
We put a fixed set of buyer questions to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google. We log which vendors come up, which pages they cite and the date.
Mentions on the sources AI cites
We record new mentions on the lists, review sites and security publications those answers draw on, and whether the facts about you are current.
