SEO for Dentists in Australia
What dental SEO means for an Australian practice
Searchmaxxed runs agentic SEO for dentists, and our Managed Search Loop picks the next best job each week. Four things decide dental search. Treatment pages that answer price and process questions compete for the searches that fill the appointment book. Location pages and Google Business Profiles compete for nearby searches. Dentist profiles that state registration facts in plain words give Google and AI answers something to verify. Reviews and claims handled inside the Ahpra rules keep all of it publishable. Our agents connect Search Console, GA4, rankings and live results. Then we build the missing pages on your Agentic Website and check each claim. We track calls and bookings to choose the next change.
Dental SEO makes a practice findable when a patient searches for a dentist, a treatment or a price. It also makes the practice nameable when Google's AI Overviews or an assistant answers the same question. The work covers the website, the Google Business Profile, practitioner records and the outside sources that mention the practice.
Dentistry adds a rule set most industries never meet. Ahpra's definition of advertising includes websites, social media and directory listings, so the page that ranks also has to be lawful.

What do the Ahpra advertising rules change for dental SEO?
Section 133 of the National Law sets five limits on advertising a regulated health service. It can't be false, misleading or deceptive. It can't offer a gift, discount or inducement without stating the terms. It can't use testimonials, create an unreasonable expectation of beneficial treatment or encourage unnecessary use of health services. Websites, social media and directory listings all sit inside Ahpra's definition of advertising.
All 15 National Boards developed the advertising guidelines together, and the Dental Board of Australia is one of them. The rules apply to anyone advertising the work of dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dental prosthetists and oral health therapists. Since the 2022 amendments the maximum penalty is $60,000 per offence for an individual and $120,000 for a body corporate. Those amounts have applied in every state and territory since July 2024.
The rule that catches agencies is control. Ahpra treats whoever authorises the content as the advertiser, including content drafted by a marketing agency. It also says advertisers must check anything produced on their behalf. An agency that publishes a testimonial or a 'specialist' claim exposes the practice, which is why we check every claim before it ships.
Testimonials on the practice's own channels
Ahpra treats a review that mentions a symptom, a treatment or an outcome as a testimonial, and testimonials can't appear in the practice's advertising. A review widget on the website can breach the law without anyone on staff writing a word. So can a reviews tab on the practice's Facebook page.
'Specialist' wording without specialist registration
Only a practitioner registered in the specialty can use 'dental specialist' or a specialist title. Ahpra says words such as 'specialises in' and 'specialised' are likely to mislead when the dentist holds no specialist registration. It offers 'substantial experience in' as wording less likely to mislead.
Offers and prices without terms
A free check-up or a discount must state its terms and conditions in plain language, and Ahpra says the public reads 'free' as absolutely free. Vague price information and an instalment amount shown without the total cost can also breach the law.
Treatment claims that promise too much
Words such as 'safe', 'pain-free' and 'risk-free' without the risks beside them, and edited before-and-after images, can create an unreasonable expectation of benefit. Claims about results need acceptable evidence, and Ahpra excludes anecdotes and single case studies from that.
How do patients search before they book a dentist?
Dental searches start with pain, a treatment or a price, and they finish with a nearby practice and a dentist the patient trusts. Each stage asks a different question, and a different page has to answer it.
1. Pain that can't wait
A cracked tooth or a swollen face sends people straight to their phone, looking for a practice that is open, close and easy to call. An emergency page needs real hours, the phone number and what happens at the first visit. Ahpra flags urgency lines such as 'don't delay' when they're tied to unsupported health claims.
2. A treatment and its price
Some patients already know the treatment and want to know what it costs. Australians search for denture prices hundreds of times a month. A treatment page answers both questions when it covers who the treatment suits, what happens, the risks and what changes the fee.
3. A practice nearby
Most dental searches carry a place, typed or implied. These searches call for a location page and a Business Profile for each site. Each should list hours, parking, phone and the dentists who work there. That way the patient can choose without ringing around.
4. Choosing the dentist
Before booking, patients compare practices and the dentists in them. A practice can't answer 'best dentist' by claiming to be the best, because Ahpra lists claims of a superior service as misleading. Practitioner pages that state registration, qualifications and experience accurately give patients and AI answers facts to compare.
What we build for a dental practice
Dental SEO covers five areas. Each has a search job and an Ahpra rule attached to it.
Treatment and cost pages
Location pages and Business Profiles
Practitioner profiles
Reviews and profiles inside the rules
AI answer presence
How we run dental SEO
We build your Agentic Website on GitHub and Vercel, and you own it. Each week, teams of AI agents collect data from your Search Console, GA4, local Google results, competitor sites, reviews and AI answers. Our Managed Search Loop checks that data against your plan and picks the next best job. That job might be a new page, a fix, or a link or review from another site through our Off-Page Source Layer. A person checks every change before it goes live. Then we measure what it did, so the site gets better every week.

How we measure dental SEO
We measure the path from a search to a booked appointment. Rankings count because they lead to calls and bookings, so every check ties a search surface to an action the front desk can see.
Google counts clicks from AI Overviews and AI Mode inside the Search Console Performance report, under the Web search type. We read those numbers alongside our own checks of what AI answers say about the practice.
Visibility per treatment
We track rankings and clicks for the searches attached to each treatment page. A gain on implants and a loss on whitening stay separate in the report, so the next change goes where the practice needs it.
Local visibility per location
We measure map and organic presence for each location's own searches. A three-location practice gets three readings, and we read each Business Profile on its own.
Calls and bookings
We count calls, booking requests and form completions per page in GA4. Front desk feedback tells us which ones became appointments, and that number decides the next release.
AI answer presence
We record whether AI answers name the practice for its treatments and suburbs, and we log the prompt, the engine and the date. The log shows movement across weeks, so one good or bad answer never drives a decision.
Claims register
Every public claim, offer and practitioner title sits in a register with its source and the date we checked it. When a page changes, the register shows what was reviewed and who at the practice approved it.
