SEO for Psychologists and Psychology Practices
What is SEO for psychologists?
We do agentic SEO: our AI agents plug into your Search Console and GA4. Every week they read the Google results, scrape competitor sites and see what AI answers say about your practice. The Managed Search Loop checks that data against your plan and picks the next job. We build pages and fixes on your Agentic Website. The Off-Page Source Layer builds your directory listings, citations and mentions. A person checks every change against the Ahpra advertising rules, and your practice approves it before it goes live.
SEO for psychologists puts a psychology practice in front of people searching for help nearby, on Google and in AI answers. In Australia the Ahpra advertising rules shape every page, practitioner profile and review a practice publishes.
Each service needs its own page, paired with the suburbs the practice serves. We build the Ahpra rules into every one of those pages.

Why do psychology practice websites lose searches?
A psychology practice site loses searches in two ways. Its pages fail to match what people type, or its copy creates Ahpra risk the practice must then remove.
A 2022 amendment to the National Law lifted the maximum penalty per advertising offence to $60,000 for an individual and $120,000 for a body corporate. Those penalties have applied in every state and territory since July 2024.
One page for every concern
A single services page can't compete for anxiety psychologist [suburb] and couples counselling near me at the same time. Each concern the practice sees, and each suburb it serves, needs a page with its own job.
Client stories and embedded reviews
A US therapist SEO guide tells practices to embed Google reviews as social proof. In Australia, a review that mentions a symptom, diagnosis, treatment or outcome counts as a testimonial. The National Law bans testimonials in advertising a regulated health service.
'Specialist' in titles and headings
Ahpra's guidelines say 'specialist', 'specialises in' and 'specialised' are likely to mislead unless the practitioner holds specialist registration. The guidelines' table of recognised specialties covers medical, dental and podiatry practitioners only. Ahpra rates 'substantial experience in' as less likely to mislead.
Urgent calls to action
A booking button that says 'don't delay' pushes a person who may already be struggling. Ahpra names 'don't delay' and 'act now before it's too late' as urgency phrases. They may be unlawful when tied to unsupported claims that a person's health may suffer.
How do people search for a psychologist?
People seeking help search by concern, place and type of care. Each stage needs a page, a profile update or a fact that answers it.
1. Looking for help
A person ready to talk to someone starts with a broad search or a near me search. These searches usually show a map pack of local practices. The Google Business Profile and a clear home page carry this stage.
2. Searching by concern and suburb
Next the person names the concern and the place. A dedicated page for each concern and suburb answers this search. It uses calm, plain language for a reader who may be anxious or unwell.
3. Checking telehealth
Some people want sessions from home. They search for telehealth and check how it works. A telehealth page that explains booking, fees and session format answers them.
4. Following a GP or EAP referral
Many people arrive with a GP referral or through an employee assistance program (EAP) at work. A page that explains how each referral works helps them book.
5. Checking registration and focus
Before booking, people check who they will see. They look for registration, any endorsement such as clinical psychology, and a focus like EMDR or child and adolescent work.
What does Searchmaxxed build for a psychology practice?
We build five things for a psychology practice. Each one runs on the Agentic Website, the Managed Search Loop or the Off-Page Source Layer.
Concern and suburb pages
Ahpra check before release
Practitioner profiles and matching facts
Referral pages
Sources, reviews and AI answers
How do we run SEO for a psychology practice?
We build your Agentic Website on GitHub and Vercel, and you own it. Each week, teams of AI agents collect data from your Search Console, GA4, local Google results, competitor sites, reviews and AI answers. Our Managed Search Loop checks that data against your plan and picks the next best job. That job might be a new page, a fix, or a link or review from another site through our Off-Page Source Layer. A person checks every change before it goes live. Then we measure what it did, so the site gets better every week.

How do we measure psychologist SEO?
We measure enquiries first, then the search data behind them. Google includes AI Overview and AI Mode appearances in the Search Console Performance report, under the Web search type.
We keep client detail out of tracking. Event names and page URLs carry the page and the action, never anything a person typed into a form.
Enquiries by page
We count calls, booking requests and form sends from each concern, suburb and referral page. Your front desk tells us which enquiries became first sessions, so we see which pages bring clients.
Search Console by page group
We read clicks, impressions and queries for each page group in Search Console. AI Overview and AI Mode appearances sit inside those numbers, so one report covers both.
Local presence per location
We track map and organic presence around each practice location for its concern and suburb searches. A practice with two locations gets two readings, one for each.
AI answer presence
The agents check whether AI answers name the practice for its concerns and suburbs. We log the prompt, the engine and the date for each check.
Fact and review drift
We compare practitioner facts across the site, profiles and directories every week. A mismatch, or a review with clinical detail on a channel the practice controls, goes on the next release list.
