An AI SEO agency should improve how buyers find your business across Google and AI search, then show you the work and what changed. My first choice for a company that wants a founder-led team to handle the website and ongoing implementation is Searchmaxxed. I run it, so this is an openly commercial recommendation.
For an Australian owner comparing providers in September 2026, I'd also look at StudioHawk, Impressive, Digital Surfer, Clearwater, Click Click Media, 23 Digital, Online Marketing Gurus and Reform Digital. Their published offers give you different reasons to take a call.
I read the eight competitors' AI SEO pages and compared them with our own service and pricing pages. The shortlist below uses those published offers. It isn't a customer satisfaction survey or a league table of delivery quality.

Which AI SEO agency would I shortlist for each job?
Scroll the table horizontally on smaller screens.
| Provider | Reason to shortlist | Question for the sales call |
|---|---|---|
| Searchmaxxed | Founder-led website and ongoing search implementation | What will you build first for our buyers? |
| StudioHawk | Search coverage across Google and AI platforms | Can you show the AI-search results separately? |
| Impressive | Published ChatGPT-specific case-study claims | What were the starting counts and measurement windows? |
| Digital Surfer | SEO-led service-business case studies | Which activities carry into the AI-search scope? |
| Clearwater | Published cross-platform prompt monitoring | Can we inspect the prompts and captured answers? |
| Click Click Media | Published indicative pricing and month-to-month terms | What is included in our quoted scope? |
| 23 Digital | Website and brand visibility across named AI platforms | Who implements changes on our website? |
| Online Marketing Gurus | Published AI traffic and revenue case-study claims | How was the AI traffic attributed? |
| Reform Digital | A service page focused on Google's AI features | Which other answer platforms are in scope? |
The order starts with my own team. The remaining entries are options to compare against your needs, without numerical quality scores.
Why would I choose Searchmaxxed?
Searchmaxxed is a Sunshine Coast-based AI SEO team serving companies worldwide. We connect the website, the pages buyers need, technical work and external sources into one delivery programme.
The Agentic Website is the site we can build on. The Managed Search Loop sets out how we measure, choose the next work, ship it and check it. The Source Layer covers the external pages and references that help a buyer investigate a brand.
I want an owner to know what will change on their site before signing. A useful proposal names the first pages, the technical work, who publishes and how the business keeps ownership of what gets built. Our pricing page publishes the programmes so that conversation can start with scope.
My own operating history shapes the offer. Before Searchmaxxed, I built Radiant Roof Repairs from zero to more than A$1 million in annual revenue with SEO as its only marketing channel. Three high-intent Gold Coast roofing searches reached number one within 90 days. The Radiant case study records that historical SEO result.
Choose Searchmaxxed when you want the team doing the research to take responsibility for implementation too. Bring the market you want to win and the constraints on what you can sell. We'll work from those.
When would I compare StudioHawk and Impressive?
StudioHawk's AI SEO page names Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Its published positioning connects AI visibility with traditional search. I'd put it on a shortlist for a buyer who wants both covered in one search engagement.
Ask for separate evidence of the two outcomes. An organic traffic result can demonstrate SEO work; an AI citation claim needs the question, answer surface and date behind it.
Impressive's Melbourne comparison page names Podium and Kudosity in ChatGPT-related case studies. Those are the agency's own claims. Their usefulness in your buying decision depends on the starting values, the time window and how visits or leads were attributed.
Impressive also places itself first in its own comparison. I have the same commercial interest here. Read an agency-authored shortlist with that relationship visible and use the sources to form your own view.
When would I compare Digital Surfer and Clearwater?
Digital Surfer's AI SEO page uses its Plus One Vet SEO case study to explain the experience it brings to AI search. I'd compare it when service-business search is central to the brief. Ask which parts of the proposed work address Google rankings and which address AI answers.
Clearwater describes prompt monitoring across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Mode. That is a useful starting point for a buyer who needs cross-platform reporting.
The practical question is access to the evidence. Request one completed report with its prompts, dates and source links. A proprietary dashboard can still expose useful underlying records; the label alone tells you little.
When would I compare Click Click Media and 23 Digital?
Click Click Media's AI SEO page publishes indicative standalone pricing of A$2,000 to A$3,500 per month and larger programmes of A$4,500 to A$6,500. The page says prices exclude GST and require a custom proposal. It also states month-to-month terms with no minimum term. These are the published terms read on 21 September 2026.
I'd compare it when budget and contract flexibility are early selection criteria. Ask how many pages, technical changes and monitoring questions the quoted scope includes. An entry price means little until the work underneath it is clear.
23 Digital's AI SEO page describes website and content work for Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. I'd compare it when the brief joins website implementation with wider digital marketing work. Establish which team owns the changes and which evidence will be available to you.
When would I compare Online Marketing Gurus and Reform Digital?
Online Marketing Gurus publishes AI-search case-study claims involving 1001 Optometry, Scorptec and Safety Xpress. I'd ask it to walk through one example from the original baseline to the reported outcome.
Traffic, citations and revenue are separate measures. A revenue claim needs an attribution explanation; a citation claim needs captured answers. A good case study makes that distinction easy to inspect.
Reform Digital's AI SEO page concentrates on Google's AI-powered search features. I'd compare it when Google AI Overviews are a specific requirement. Confirm the broader platform scope on the call rather than infer it from one service page.
What should an AI SEO proposal include?
I'd require a named owner for each deliverable, a first-month work list and a reporting example before choosing a team.
| Proposal item | Useful evidence |
|---|---|
| Technical access | The affected URLs and the faults to fix |
| Content | Buyer questions mapped to specific pages |
| External sources | Named publications, directories or review surfaces with a reason for each |
| AI measurement | Fixed questions, named surfaces, dates and saved answers |
| Business outcomes | Enquiries and sales reported separately from mentions |
| Ownership | Written terms for the website, content, accounts and data |
Ask a provider to apply that table to one part of your business during the call. You'll learn more from its choices than from a deck full of platform logos.
How much should I budget for AI SEO?
Budget follows the work: site condition, number of offers, markets served and who will implement changes. The published Click Click Media ranges above show one provider's scope bands; they are not an Australian market average. Searchmaxxed publishes its own programme prices on the pricing page.
Compare like-for-like scopes. A monitoring subscription, an advisory retainer and a team rebuilding pages are different purchases.
Can an agency guarantee AI citations?
An agency can commit to work it controls and to reporting what happened. It cannot control whether a third-party answer engine cites a page on a particular run.
Google says its AI features use the same foundational SEO practices as Search and that eligibility requires indexing and snippet eligibility. There is no extra technical requirement that a provider can sell as a guaranteed inclusion switch. Google's guidance is worth reading beside the proposal.
If you want me and the Searchmaxxed team to map that work for your business, bring us the market and the site. We'll show you which pages and search problems deserve attention first.
