Disclosure: Searchmaxxed wrote this list and is in it, and we put ourselves first.

The best Shopify SEO agency shows organic revenue from stores like yours, fixes Shopify's theme problems and gets your products into AI answers. It tells you the price, too. For a Shopify brand that wants to be the answer in Google and in ChatGPT, our pick is Searchmaxxed. This is our own selection, not an independent award, a survey or a measured ranking.

The other seven worth calling are Netalico, Searchbloom, Break The Web, Coalition Technologies, OuterBox, SeoProfy and 1Digital Agency. We judged all eight on five things: Shopify proof, platform depth, who does the fixes, price and AI search. We read every agency's own Shopify SEO page on 3 November 2026, and each entry uses only what that agency publishes about itself.

In summary

Each kind of Shopify store has a different best first call, and four of the eight agencies publish a starting price on their own websites.

Which Shopify SEO agencies made our shortlist?

Eight agencies made our 2026 list. Every one of them sells Shopify SEO by name on its own website, and five publish a Shopify result with a number attached.

How did we choose them?

We judged every agency on the same five things, using only what it publishes on its own website:

  • Shopify proof: named or described Shopify stores with organic revenue, orders or traffic, quoted as the agency's own claim. Revenue counts for more than traffic.
  • Platform depth: whether the page shows it knows the Shopify traps, from duplicate product URLs and filters to app scripts and Liquid templates.
  • Who does the fixes: an agency whose own developers change your theme counts for more than one that hands you a list.
  • Price and terms: a published price or range, and contract terms, where the agency says.
  • AI search: a published offer for Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity.

We started from the agencies Google showed US searchers on 3 November 2026 for "shopify seo agency", "best shopify seo agency", "shopify seo company" and "shopify seo expert". Then we read each agency's own Shopify SEO page that day, along with Clutch's Shopify SEO list. This is our selection. We put Searchmaxxed first because we wrote it. It can't tell you how each agency's clients feel, so call two or three of them before you sign anything at all.

Searchmaxxed is an AI-native search team. We make your store the answer in Google and in the AI engines your shoppers ask, then turn that into orders. One team builds and improves your store's pages and fixes its technical SEO. We earn your place in Google, AI Overviews, ChatGPT and the other engines. We start with AI search: what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews say when shoppers ask about your category.

  • What we sell: Technical SEO for Shopify, collection and product pages, Product schema, filter and duplicate-URL rules, internal links, link building and AI answer work.
  • Proof we publish: Searchmaxxed's work has generated more than $15 million in revenue through search for its clients. We haven't published a Shopify case study yet.
  • Pricing: Quoted after a free search analysis. Get your free search analysis.
  • AI search: AI SEO, GEO and AEO come with every managed package, and we keep tracking what those engines say about your store and products.
  • Speed and depth: Every person on our team works with AI agents. You get the reach of a much larger team with the focus of a small one, and you talk to the people doing the work.
  • What you own: Your site, content and data stay yours. We report on the searches and AI answers that turn into revenue.
  • Ask us: Open my Search Console and show me the three collection or product pages you'd build or fix first.

2\. Netalico: best for Shopify Plus brands whose theme is holding them back

Netalico is a Shopify Plus Premier Partner and a development agency first, so the engineers who find a technical problem also fix it. It suits mid-market and enterprise DTC brands doing $2M to $50M in GMV, usually on Shopify Plus. Its team works from hubs in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami.

  • What they sell: Technical SEO, Core Web Vitals and app clean-up, collection and product pages, internal linking, content and migration SEO. Its reporting ties to organic revenue.
  • Proof they publish: It names Big Green Egg, Oatly, Audio Advice, Rifle Paper Co and Feetures among the brands it works with. Its Shopify SEO page shows no SEO numbers for them.
  • Pricing: A retainer of $2,700 to $10,000 monthly, with the average client around $4,500 monthly. One-off replatforms and rebuilds run from $25,000 to $250,000 and up.
  • AI search: It runs AI SEO and generative engine optimization as separate work that shares a technical base with classic SEO.
  • Ask them: Which theme or app changes would you make in month one, and what should each one move?

3\. Searchbloom: best for working straight with an analyst, on short terms

Searchbloom suits a Shopify brand that has been burned by an account-manager layer and wants to talk to the person doing the work. You get a dedicated analyst rather than an account manager, and it advertises "No Lengthy Contracts". It's based in South Jordan, Utah.

  • What they sell: Shopify SEO audits, keyword research, collection and product page work, content, link building and technical SEO, with PPC and CRO alongside.
  • Proof they publish: A beauty product store on Shopify shows a "111.7% Increase in Organic Revenue", and a specialty glassware retailer on Shopify shows a 69.3% increase. Clutch shows 4.9 from 102 reviews.
  • Pricing: Its SEO starts at $3,000 monthly. It says competition, the locations you target and the scope of work move the price up.
  • AI search: Answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization services, plus free AI visibility and agent-readiness checkers.
  • Ask them: Who would my analyst be, and how many other stores do they look after?

4\. Break The Web: best for DTC brands that want digital PR and plain-English reports

Break The Web works with in-house DTC marketers who want to "reduce ad spend and build sustainable organic revenue". Its pitch is links from publications your shoppers read, plus monthly reports without the jargon. It names its clients and quotes them by name.

  • What they sell: Product and collection page work, keyword research, content, technical audits, digital PR, Google Merchant Center set-up and migrations to Shopify.
  • Proof they publish: Gisou shows a "1,365% Increase In Global Organic Search Traffic" and Quiet Mind a "652% Increase in Organic Search Traffic". VIM&VIGR's marketing director, Teresa Zortman, says conversion rates "have increased 21%".
  • Pricing: Its FAQ says its Shopify SEO services "start at $4,000" without saying whether that's monthly or per project.
  • AI search: Its menu lists AI search, GEO and AEO, plus AI brand visibility tracking. It also lists a US Search Awards win for Best Use of Search (B2C).
  • Ask them: Which publications linked to Gisou, and what did those links do for product page traffic?

5\. Coalition Technologies: best for SEO, design and ads from one large team

Coalition Technologies suits a brand that wants Shopify SEO, web design, PPC and email marketing from one large team, with a dedicated project manager. Its Shopify SEO page lists its staff by name, from the CEO to trainees. It also builds sites, so SEO changes and design changes can come from the same place.

  • What they sell: On-page and technical fixes, schema, copywriting, link building, product review marketing, Google Shopping feeds and app integrations, alongside design and development.
  • Proof they publish: For Rainbow Symphony, it says SEO and PPC together lifted organic sessions 371% and monthly organic revenue 339%. It claims its Shopify SEO grows organic revenue "by an average of 750%". Clutch shows 4.8 from 167 reviews.
  • Pricing: Not published. It says "Pricing is based on your work order volume each month" and that a campaign can launch "in 30 days or less".
  • AI search: Its page covers "placement in AI-driven tools like AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and other LLMs".
  • Ask them: What does work order volume mean for my store, and how many hours does a month buy?

6\. OuterBox: best for large catalogs, B2B and headless Shopify stores

OuterBox suits a Shopify Plus, B2B or high-SKU store that needs SEO, development, CRO and analytics working from one plan. It says it has a "300+ U.S.-Based Team" and ecommerce experience dating to 2004. Its page splits Shopify SEO by store model, from DTC brands and high-SKU catalogs to headless storefronts and gated B2B pricing.

  • What they sell: Shopify SEO audits, collection architecture, product page work, indexation control, theme speed, structured data, content, migration SEO and revenue reporting.
  • Proof they publish: Two unnamed Shopify brands. A home gym and fitness brand shows "+118% Organic Revenue" in 2025, and an outdoor living brand shows "+186% Organic Revenue". Clutch shows 5.0 from 93 reviews.
  • Pricing: Not published. It says the price depends on catalog size, competition, technical condition and migration risk.
  • AI search: Its Shopify SEO page doesn't cover AI search. Ask how it would track your products in AI Overviews and ChatGPT.
  • Ask them: Which of my filter pages would you let Google index, and which would you keep out?

7\. SeoProfy: best for a revenue forecast before you commit

SeoProfy opens every engagement with a revenue and traffic forecast tied to agreed KPIs, which suits a brand that has to defend its SEO budget. It publishes its prices, its typical timeline and its average client lifetime of 21 months.

  • What they sell: Content, technical SEO, keyword research, collection and product page work, link building and analytics, using its own SearchAnalytics tool.
  • Proof they publish: By its account, a kids' apparel store on Shopify grew from 154 to 47,094 monthly organic visits over six years. It shows "+510% Shopify Client ROI Growth" and 4.9 from 99 reviews on Clutch.
  • Pricing: From $4,000 monthly for small sites and $6,000 to $8,000 monthly for mid-sized businesses. A technical audit costs $750 to $1,500.
  • AI search: It sells Google rankings plus citations in AI search, and tracks them with AI citation tools.
  • Ask them: What did your forecast say for the apparel store, and how close did the real numbers come?

8\. 1Digital Agency: best for SEO and Liquid development under one roof

1Digital Agency suits a store whose SEO problems are development problems at heart: theme code, apps, metafields or a Hydrogen headless build. It has been a Shopify Partner since 2012 and is now a Shopify Plus Partner, with a Miami office and a team of 50-plus.

  • What they sell: Theme and app audits, duplicate-URL clean-up, keyword-to-collection mapping, schema built from metafields, Shopify Markets hreflang, CRO, email and PPC.
  • Proof they publish: It cites 4.9 out of 5 across 100+ verified reviews on Google, Trustpilot, Clutch and Facebook. Its Shopify SEO page shows a made-up example store rather than client results.
  • Pricing: Not published. It says a senior strategist replies within one business day "with a pricing band and a draft scope".
  • AI search: It tracks citation share across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews with its own Found in AI tool, and sets up llms.txt.
  • Ask them: Show me two Shopify case studies with organic revenue, and the theme changes behind them.

How do they compare on proof, price and reviews?

Five of the eight publish a Shopify result with a number, and four publish a price. Here they are side by side.

What makes Shopify SEO different from regular SEO?

Shopify makes some SEO decisions for you, and a few of them hold rankings back until someone fixes them in the theme. That's why the best Shopify SEO agencies have their own developers, or work hand in hand with yours.

Shopify trapWhat it doesWho usually fixes it
Duplicate product URLsSplits link credit across collection pathsTheme developer
Filter and sort URLsCreates thousands of near-duplicate pagesSEO lead and developer
App scriptsSlows pages and hurts Core Web VitalsDeveloper and store owner
robots.txt.liquid editsOne bad rule can block the storeShopify Partner or SEO developer
Thin collection pagesHands product-type searches to rivalsSEO and copy team
Long GA4 event namesDrops conversions from reportsAnalytics lead

Netalico puts the URL problem plainly: "Product URLs live under /products/ and also resolve under every collection they belong to." The canonical tag points search engines to the clean /products/ address. If your collection grids link to the longer one, though, the credit you want on one URL gets spread across copies.

Some guides still describe Shopify's robots.txt as locked. It isn't. Shopify's help center explains how to add a robots.txt.liquid template to allow or block URLs, block crawlers and add sitemaps. It also warns that "Incorrect use of the feature can result in loss of all traffic", and its support team can't help with edits. Hire someone who has edited it on other stores first.

Filters need the same care. Every color, size and sort option can make its own URL, and Google publishes guidance on managing faceted navigation for exactly this reason. A good agency decides which filter pages deserve to rank, such as "black leather boots", and keeps the rest out of the crawl.

Should your Shopify SEO agency handle AI search too?

Yes. Shopify already puts your products into AI chats, so the real question is whether those chats pick your products or a rival's. Shopify says its agentic storefronts let customers "discover and purchase your products in AI channels, such as ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Meta". It adds that the feature "is active by default for eligible stores".

The agents work from your product data and your store's knowledge base. Shopify says the knowledge base holds "your return process, shipping timelines, and brand values" so AI agents can answer shoppers' questions. Thin or conflicting facts give an agent less to go on when it builds a shortlist.

Those shoppers are worth winning. In July 2026, Adobe found that visitors sent to US retail sites by AI assistants converted at a 60% higher rate than other traffic.

Measure it carefully, though. A client's GA4 showed AI-assistant visits jump from 354 to 6,050 in a month. Almost none of it was real. About 5,700 came in three one-hour bursts: same 1920x1080 desktop Chrome, all new users, no referrer, about 20 seconds each, landing on two pages. Real AI traffic was 385 sessions against 354 the month before, roughly flat. So when an agency shows you ChatGPT growth, ask how it filtered out bots before it counted a single visit.

How should you choose a Shopify SEO agency?

Choose the agency that shows organic revenue from a store like yours, names its first pages and theme fixes, and proves its tracking. Put these six questions to every agency you call.

  1. Ask for a store like yours. A big result for a beauty brand tells a furniture store little. Ask for the category, catalog size, Shopify plan and time period behind each number.
  2. Ask who changes the theme. On Shopify, many of the fixes that move rankings mean changing theme code. Find out whether the agency's own developers make them, or whether your developer has to, and who pays for those hours.
  3. Ask which pages come first. Collection pages win product-type searches, and product pages win model searches. A good agency names them before you sign.
  4. Ask about filters and duplicates. Which filter pages would they let Google index? And how would they stop thousands of near-duplicate filter URLs soaking up Googlebot's visits to your store?
  5. Ask what AI engines say about you now. An agency selling AI search should show you today's answer in ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews for your main product type.
  6. Ask them to prove the tracking. Revenue claims are only as good as the analytics behind them.

That last check matters more than it looks. A client's four enquiry types never counted as conversions. Their event names ran 41 to 50 characters; GA4 cuts at 40. The 40-character "career" event counted every time. Nobody had noticed, because the events still showed up. A Shopify store that sends custom purchase or add-to-cart events with long names would carry the same blind spot, and its reports would undercount sales.

How much does a Shopify SEO agency cost?

Published Shopify SEO prices from US agencies start around $2,700 to $4,000 monthly and run to $10,000 monthly for larger stores. Shopify's own cost guide puts ecommerce SEO at $2,000 to $10,000 monthly. Most agencies quote only after a call.

Inflow, SEO services pageEffective SEO "generally" $3,000 to $5,000 monthly3 Nov 2026

These are the published offers of the agencies named, plus Shopify's own guide. They aren't a national average.

What moves the price is the work. A small store that needs collection pages and duplicate-URL fixes sits near the bottom of that range. A catalog of tens of thousands of products, a replatform, Shopify Markets across several countries or a digital PR campaign pushes it up. Ask each agency what a month buys in pages, fixes and developer hours, and compare that rather than the fee alone.

Agency, freelancer or Shopify's own SEO team: which should you hire?

Hire an agency when your store needs strategy, theme fixes, content and links together. A freelance Shopify SEO expert suits one defined job, and Shopify's own team suits a merchant who wants help from inside the platform.

Shopify sells SEO help itself. Its Professional Services team offers SEO audits, GEO and AEO support, migration SEO, technical SEO, content and link building, starting with a free discovery call. Its page doesn't list prices. Freelance Shopify SEO experts sell on Upwork and Fiverr Pro, and they're a fit for a one-off audit or a migration check.

Is Searchmaxxed right for your Shopify store?

Searchmaxxed is right for a Shopify or Shopify Plus brand that wants its products named in AI answers as well as ranked in Google.

It's a good fit if:

  • You want your store named when shoppers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews what to buy. Our AI SEO services cover that side.
  • You want to own your site, content and data, with reporting tied to the orders search brings in.
  • You want theme problems found and fixed, from duplicate URLs to slow templates, through our technical SEO work.
  • You want to talk to the people doing the work.

It isn't the right fit if:

  • You need sales this month to survive and can't fund search while it builds.
  • You're shopping for the cheapest retainer.
  • You want to read Shopify case studies before the first call. We haven't published one yet, while Searchbloom, Break The Web, Coalition Technologies, OuterBox and SeoProfy have.

Not on Shopify? Our ecommerce SEO agency shortlist covers agencies across other store platforms, with a focus on Australian stores.

Where should you start?

Pick two or three agencies from this list that suit your store, and put the same six questions to each. Hire the one that names its first fixes from your own data and can show you how it will prove they worked. Want Searchmaxxed on that list? We'll benchmark your store against your top competitors across Google, ChatGPT and the other AI engines, and show you where they're named instead of you. Get your free search analysis.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Shopify SEO agency do?

A Shopify SEO agency gets your collection and product pages found in Google and AI answers, then turns that traffic into orders. The work covers theme fixes, duplicate URLs and filters, Product schema, collection and product copy, internal links, link building and AI search. Good agencies report organic revenue as well as rankings.

How much does a Shopify SEO expert cost?

Published US agency prices for Shopify SEO run from about $2,700 to $10,000 monthly. Shopify's own cost guide puts ecommerce SEO at $2,000 to $10,000 monthly, or $150 to $500 an hour. SeoProfy prices a one-off technical audit at $750 to $1,500.

Is Shopify good for SEO?

Yes. Shopify gives every store a sitemap, canonical tags and a robots.txt file you can edit through robots.txt.liquid. It also creates duplicate product URLs, filter URLs and app scripts that need managing. Those are fixable. They're the first things a good agency checks.

How long does Shopify SEO take to work?

Technical fixes can show within weeks, while revenue growth usually takes months. SeoProfy says stores typically see early traction in three to four months and meaningful revenue impact in six to nine. Your category, catalog and competition change that.

Do I need a Shopify-specific SEO agency?

No, but it helps. Shopify's URL patterns, filters, apps and Liquid templates hide traps a generalist may miss. Many of the fixes need a developer who knows Shopify's theme code.

Can Shopify do my SEO for me?

Partly. Shopify sells SEO help through its Professional Services team, covering audits, technical SEO, migrations, content, links and AI search. Its support team can't help with robots.txt.liquid edits, though, and points merchants to a Shopify Partner for those.

Should I keep running Google Shopping ads while I invest in SEO?

Yes, if they pay back. Shopping ads buy clicks for as long as you pay, while organic collection and product pages keep earning after the budget stops. The same accurate product data helps both.
