SEO for government suppliers makes your capabilities, delivery evidence and buying routes easy to find when agencies research a purchase. Build pages around the work you sell, then connect them to current procurement details, security information and relevant case studies. Keep the capability statement downloadable too. SEO supports supplier discovery and evaluation; tender responses and eligibility remain separate jobs.

The distinction matters. A GovTech product can answer the search perfectly while leaving a procurement officer unable to establish which company supplies it or how to buy.

In summary

  • Target the product or service government needs, rather than broad searches about winning contracts.
  • Publish capability details as web pages, with a matching PDF for people who need to circulate them.
  • Keep Australian panels and US contract routes distinct. Neither replaces an explanation of what you deliver.
  • Give accessibility and security claims their own evidence, including the product version or service assessed.
  • Measure relevant enquiries and sales opportunities separately from downloads, rankings and AI mentions.

I'm Brenden House. I run Searchmaxxed, an SEO and AI SEO agency. We build the pages and fix the technical problems that stop companies being found for the work they actually sell.

This guide covers suppliers. Our government website SEO guide covers agencies helping the public find services and information.

How do government buyers research suppliers?

Government research includes official procurement systems and publicly available product information. Your website can support that research by explaining the capability behind a supplier record, then showing the evidence needed to assess its suitability.

The US rules make this explicit. FAR 10.002 lists government and commercial databases, online product literature, industry discussions and requests for information among market-research techniques.

Australia's Department of Finance says approved marketplace-panel suppliers appear in the BuyICT Seller Catalogue. Buyers can find them there and include them in opportunities.

A website has a different job. It explains whether your software handles the agency's workflow, whether your equipment meets its specification, or whether your team delivers the required service.

Those answers deserve searchable pages. At Searchmaxxed, we connect each capability page to its supporting evidence so visitors can investigate without starting a separate search for every missing fact.

What changes between selling to Australian and US government?

Australian Commonwealth and US federal procurement use different systems, so your website must describe the route that actually applies to each market. Check state and local requirements separately, rather than assuming the federal systems below govern every public-sector purchase in either country.

Don't translate a page by changing the flag. The purchasing information changes too.

Website detailAustralian Commonwealth salesUS federal sales
Official referenceRelevant AusTender notices and applicable panel recordsSAM.gov entity information and applicable contract records
Digital and ICT supplyBuyICT marketplace and approved category, where applicableRelevant product or service capability and actual contract route
Buying-route explanationExact panel, scope and supplier entityContract vehicle held, or clearly identified prime/reseller relationship
IdentityLegal supplier name and applicable business identifiersLegal entity, Unique Entity ID and CAGE code where applicable
Supporting evidenceRelevant assessment scope, delivery record and product detailsRelevant assessment scope, past performance and product details

Finance's supplier resources explain AusTender and link to state and territory systems. The DTA's BuyICT guidance identifies the digital and ICT procurement arrangements it manages, including the categories and government entities each arrangement covers.

A panel is a group of suppliers appointed under a standing offer arrangement. Appointment is not a purchase order. Finance explains that buyers seek quotes for covered goods or services and select the response offering best value.

For the US, SAM.gov distinguishes registration from a Unique Entity ID. Registration supports direct bids for federal awards; having an identifier alone is different.

Keep those distinctions visible. We build the market pages around your verified position, whether you sell directly, through a reseller or as a subcontractor to a prime.

Which keywords should government suppliers target?

Target the capability and problem your customer needs solved. “SEO for government contractors” is useful for finding this article. It isn't a sensible target for a company selling records-management software.

Start with your product language. Then compare it with public requirements, customer enquiries and the searches already reaching your website.

Illustrative searchPage that should answer itDetail that earns its place
Grants management software for governmentProduct use-case pageApplication assessment, approvals, reporting and integrations
Records migration services for governmentService pageSource systems, migration boundaries and validation approach
Rugged tablets for field inspectionsProduct/category pageEnvironmental specifications, connectivity and support
Accessible government case management softwareProduct accessibility pageTested product version and conformance evidence
Network operations subcontractorTeaming pageWork packages, delivery coverage and partnership contact

These are planning examples, not measured search volumes. We validate them first.

For US suppliers, include relevant NAICS codes alongside plain descriptions. SBA explains that NAICS codes classify businesses by the products or services they supply.

Codes provide context. They do not explain an implementation, and a page for every code would rarely give a buyer something useful beyond the original service page.

What belongs on a searchable capability statement?

A capability statement summarises what your company can deliver and the evidence supporting it. Publish that information as an HTML page, then offer a consistent PDF download.

Give the page a useful title. “Government records migration services” tells someone more than “Our capabilities”. That matters most when they arrive straight from search.

The page needs:

  • Scope: the work included, excluded and dependent on another supplier.
  • Delivery: relevant systems, implementation stages, support and service coverage.
  • Evidence: approved project examples, test results or demonstrations that support the stated capability.
  • Buying details: current supplier identity and applicable panel, contract or partner route.
  • Contact: the person or team handling government enquiries and teaming discussions.

Put the detail in text. A diagram helps someone understand the service, but the explanation should remain available without reading labels inside an image or opening a download.

We make that page part of the site. Searchmaxxed's technical SEO work covers crawl access, indexing, internal links, canonical tags, rendering and performance, rather than leaving the capability page isolated.

Check the PDF too. Its scope, contact details and procurement status should agree with the web version, particularly after a contract arrangement or product name changes.

How should suppliers publish accessibility and security evidence?

Publish the exact product, service or system covered by each assessment, together with its date, scope and known limitations. Keep detailed restricted reports behind the appropriate access process.

Specificity does the work. A security logo beside “government ready” leaves the buyer guessing whether it covers your whole business, a hosting provider or the product being considered.

Accessibility evidence

An Accessibility Conformance Report, or ACR, explains how an ICT product meets relevant accessibility standards. A VPAT is a template used to prepare that report.

Section508.gov recommends ACRs for ICT marketed to the US federal government. Its preparation guidance requires testing first.

Name the tested version. Include the assessment date, applicable WCAG criteria and a route to the report, with an explanation of outstanding limitations where appropriate for public release.

Keep product and website accessibility separate. An accessible marketing site does not establish that your software meets a procurement requirement, and a product report does not assess every web page.

Security evidence

State the assessment accurately. For Australia, ASD's IRAP guidance says assessors do not accredit, endorse or register systems on ASD's behalf.

It also makes the scope problem clear: completing an assessment does not mean the system complies with every tested security control. The report matters.

Searchmaxxed turns approved technical facts into readable pages. Your security and accessibility specialists establish those facts; our SEO work does not replace their assessments or decide contract compliance.

What would this look like for a GovTech SaaS company?

A grants-management SaaS company selling in Australia and the US needs product evidence shared across markets, with procurement details specific to each jurisdiction. Here is a proposed structure, not a client result.

Start with the product page. Explain how applications move through assessment and approval, which systems connect, and what an administrator can export when the contract ends or the platform changes.

Then resolve the surrounding questions:

Page or sectionEvidence to publishWhat triggers an update
Grants-management productSupported workflows, integrations and implementation boundariesProduct release or changed integration
Australian government supplyApplicable panel/category and the actual supplying entityPanel or reseller status changes
US federal supplyActual contract route and matching entity detailsRegistration or vehicle status changes
Product accessibilityTested version, report date and known limitationsInterface release or new assessment
Product securityAssessed system, scope and report-access contactHosting, service boundary or assessment changes
Delivery evidenceApproved project scope, dates and measured outcomesNew evidence or changed publication permission

The links matter as much as the pages. Someone reading the Australian supply page should reach the relevant product evidence without being sent through an unrelated US contracting section or generic homepage.

Keep a small evidence register. For every public claim, record its source, responsible specialist and update trigger, then list the web pages and PDFs where that claim appears.

That prevents a familiar problem. The product team updates a report while an old capability PDF keeps telling procurement something else, because nobody remembered the copy inside the download.

This fits Searchmaxxed's delivery model. We combine page builds with technical fixes and internal linking, rather than asking your marketing team to turn a recommendation document into a working site.

What evidence works when government projects are confidential?

Use approved delivery detail, demonstrations and clearly labelled commercial experience when you cannot publish government project names. A real explanation still helps without a client logo.

Show what you can disclose. That might include the migration method, testing approach, supported deployment model or an anonymised case cleared by everyone whose permission is required.

Permission comes first. Removing a name is not enough if the system, location or project details still identify the customer or reveal restricted information.

Make your role explicit. A subcontracted work package is useful experience, but it should not read as though your company held the entire government contract directly.

For manufacturers, approved technical documentation can be stronger than a broad case study. Explain specifications, inspection methods and support arrangements using evidence your engineers can stand behind.

We build pages from that material. Searchmaxxed can explain the work and link the evidence; we cannot invent a government reference or turn an unapproved project into public proof.

Can AI answers recommend government suppliers?

AI search optimisation helps engines find and describe a supplier's public capabilities. It does not establish procurement eligibility, and an AI recommendation still needs checking against current official records.

Google's requirements are straightforward. Its AI features guidance says supporting pages must be indexed and eligible to appear in Search with a snippet.

No special AI schema is required. Clear text, accessible pages and structured data matching the visible content remain part of the work.

Useful answers explain which product supports a workflow, what deployment options exist, and where the accessibility or security evidence can be found.

Keep the entity clear too. State which legal company supplies each product so the brand name in an answer can be connected to the relevant procurement record without guessing.

Searchmaxxed's AI search optimisation sits alongside SEO. We track answers across the relevant engines and improve the pages when they omit important facts or describe the offer incorrectly.

How do you measure SEO when contracts take time?

Measure qualified supplier enquiries and their progress in your CRM, while keeping search traffic and document downloads as separate observations. A download is useful interest, not an awarded contract.

Connect the records where access allows. Keep the landing page and source alongside the enquiry, then let business development confirm whether it relates to a genuine opportunity you can serve.

MeasurementWhat it tells youWhat it does not establish
Relevant search clicksPeople reached a capability or product pageThe visitor represented government
Capability PDF downloadsSomeone requested the documentA qualified sales opportunity
AI mentions and citationsAn engine named the company or linked its pageA visit, enquiry or procurement decision
Qualified enquiriesA relevant buyer or prime contacted youA shortlist or contract award
CRM opportunities and winsSales progress recorded by your teamSEO caused the entire outcome

Separate recruitment and vendor pitches. Otherwise a busy careers section can make an SEO report look commercially healthy while the government supply pages produce no relevant conversations at all.

Our reporting connects Search Console, analytics and available sales feedback. The question is whether the pages bring useful enquiries, not whether an unrelated article made the traffic chart bigger.

Is Searchmaxxed right for government suppliers?

Searchmaxxed fits suppliers that need SEO and AI SEO implemented across their website, with access to specialists who can approve technical and procurement facts. We do the website work.

Your procurement team owns eligibility. Your product and security teams own the evidence, and your business-development team handles tenders and commercial discussions through the required channels.

Our SEO service combines keyword research, capability and product pages, technical fixes, internal links and measurement. You own the website, repository, content and data.

The managed plans differ in output:

PlanPublished scopeWhere it fits this work
Growth System30 page releases monthly, with technical SEO, schema and internal-link work outside that countBuilding and improving product, capability and supporting evidence pages
Agentic Search Engineering50 page releases monthly, plus comparison, industry and integration page families, link campaigns and digital PRExpanding a broader product or service portfolio
Custom & EnterpriseAgreed scope for multiple markets, dedicated engineering, custom reporting and original researchCoordinating a larger Australian and US website estate

A page release can be a substantial rebuild. The task is to improve pages that earn their place, rather than invent another government landing page to fill a calendar.

Searchmaxxed is a good fit ifLook elsewhere if
Government buyers research suppliers before a tender opensYou need tender writing or panel admission
Your product and security teams can supply evidenceYou need a formal security assessment
You want SEO and AI answers handled by one teamYou need search to fill this quarter's pipeline on its own
You want to own your site, repository, content and dataYou want strategy advice with no changes to your site

We are not a tender-writing service. If you need panel admission, supplier registration or a formal security assessment, appoint the right specialist rather than asking SEO to do another profession's work.

Frequently asked questions

What is SEO in government?

For agencies, SEO helps people find public services and information. For suppliers, SEO helps government buyers and prime contractors find products, capabilities and evidence supporting a potential purchase.

Does being on a panel make SEO unnecessary?

No. Panel membership identifies an available procurement route, while your website explains the work and evidence behind it. Buyers still need to assess suitability for the requirement.

Should a capability statement be a PDF or a web page?

Use both. Publish the core detail as an accessible web page, then provide a matching PDF for circulation. Keep dates, scope and contact information consistent.

Can a subcontractor benefit from government contractor SEO?

Yes. Build a teaming page around the work packages your company can deliver. Explain your role and link approved evidence without implying you hold the prime contract.

Does SAM.gov registration replace a supplier website?

No. SAM.gov registration and your website serve different purposes. The website explains your capability in depth, while the registration supports direct participation in federal awards.

Can Searchmaxxed certify our product's accessibility or security?

No. Searchmaxxed publishes and organises approved evidence as part of SEO work. Qualified specialists must assess the product and establish the claims before we describe them.

What should you do next?

Bring your website, capability statement and current procurement details. We'll identify the searches your offer should answer and the pages needed to connect that answer to credible evidence.
