Insurtech SEO helps insurance technology companies appear when insurers, brokers and policyholders search for products they can use. The starting point is your business model. Software platforms need product, use-case and integration pages that turn insurance workflows into reasons to book a demo. Direct-to-consumer insurtechs need pages about cover, eligibility and quotes. Mixing those audiences can fill a software company's website with visitors who will never buy its software.
I'm Brenden House, founder of Searchmaxxed. We do SEO, technical SEO, AI SEO, GEO and AEO, with the website implementation included.
In summary
- Separate software buyers from policy buyers before choosing keywords. Their questions lead to different pages and different enquiries.
- Build product and integration pages around supported capabilities. An API connection, a working connector and a planned integration aren't interchangeable.
- Keep Australian and US availability clear. Licensing and state requirements belong in buyer information reviewed by your specialists, not broad claims of compliance.
- Give Google and AI answers specific product facts they can retrieve. Keep public explanations separate from private customer systems.
- Measure suitable demos and sales opportunities for software. For direct insurance, follow eligible quote requests through to policies instead.
How is insurtech SEO different from insurance SEO?
Insurtech SEO must distinguish technology procurement from purchasing insurance. A claims director researching software needs different answers from a policyholder trying to lodge a claim.
Start with the transaction.
If your customer buys software, explain the workflow your product changes, the systems it connects to and the work needed to implement it. If your customer buys cover, explain the insurance product and who provides it, along with the relevant terms and the route to a quote.
| Business model | Illustrative search | Suitable page | Commercial action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Software for insurers | Claims management software | Product page covering claims workflows and implementation | Product demo |
| Platform for brokers | Broker management system integration | Integration page with supported systems and connection details | Technical discussion |
| Software for managing general agents, or MGAs | Underwriting workbench for MGAs | Use-case page showing supported underwriting tasks | Product demo |
| Embedded insurance infrastructure | Insurance API for a checkout | Product page explaining the distribution model and API | Partnership or technical enquiry |
| Direct-to-consumer insurance | Pet insurance with a particular coverage need | Insurance product page with eligibility and exclusions | Eligible quote request |
These are example searches, not keyword-volume findings. Validate them against your product and market before building pages.
Our SaaS SEO work fits the software side: product searches, comparison pages and the technical questions that sit between interest and a demo. The separate guide to SEO for insurance companies covers policy acquisition without making this article repeat it.
Which searches should an insurtech platform target first?
Start with searches that describe a product you sell, a problem it solves or a system it can connect to. Broad insurance education comes later.
Consider a hypothetical claims-intake platform selling to insurers and MGAs. Its strongest starting point is an accurate claims-intake product page, supported by material showing how claims arrive and what happens after submission.
Not a pet insurance glossary.
The platform might support first notification of loss, often shortened to FNOL: the initial report that an insured event has happened. That creates several possible pages, but only if the product facts support them.
| Search theme | Question the page answers | Evidence to collect before writing |
|---|---|---|
| Product category | Does this handle claims intake for our insurance line? | Supported lines, workflow screenshots, exclusions |
| Workflow problem | Can brokers submit claims without rekeying information? | Actual submission flow, required fields, remaining manual work |
| System integration | Will this connect to our policy administration system? | Supported versions, connection method, ownership of setup |
| Replacement or comparison | What changes if we replace our current process? | Comparable capabilities, migration steps, known limitations |
| Implementation | What must our team provide before launch? | Data requirements, responsibilities, testing and acceptance steps |
Use sales conversations to check the language. An enterprise prospect's integration question can be more valuable than another broad article about the future of insurance.
Searchmaxxed combines keyword research with Search Console, competitor pages and sales feedback, then builds the pages around the product facts your team can substantiate. Each page gets a distinct purpose.
That also prevents overlap. If an existing product page already answers the search, improve it instead of creating another article competing for the same question.
What should an insurtech product page explain?
An insurtech product page should explain who the software serves, what it does and what implementation requires before asking for a demo. Specific limitations help prospects qualify themselves.
For the claims-intake example, begin with the actual workflow. Show where a broker submits information, which checks happen and where the resulting record goes next.
Then show the exceptions.
Does the product accept attachments, and can a handler correct a submission before sending it? Which insurance lines are supported, and which tasks still happen outside the platform?
These questions belong beside the product explanation, rather than buried in a document that a prospect receives only after speaking with your sales team.
A useful page includes:
- The intended customer and supported insurance lines.
- The workflow, using real product screenshots with sensitive information removed.
- Connections to existing policy, claims or broker systems.
- Implementation responsibilities and dependencies.
- Security, hosting and data-handling facts your team has approved.
- Evidence for performance claims, with the measurement conditions attached.
- A demo route that names the product being discussed.
Avoid borrowing credentials. A cloud provider's certification isn't automatically your software's certification, and a partner's licence doesn't describe your company's role without further explanation.
Searchmaxxed builds the copy, layout, titles, internal links and matching schema around those approved facts. The page supports discovery and evaluation.
When does an integration deserve its own SEO page?
An integration deserves a page when you can explain a real connection and answer questions that the main product page cannot. A partner logo isn't enough.
For the claims-intake platform, an integration page should explain which information passes to the policy system and what happens when that transfer fails in practice. Start with its current status.
The following is an editorial decision table, not a claim about any particular vendor's integrations.
| Integration status | What the page can say | Evidence needed | Appropriate next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maintained production connector | A named connection is supported within stated limits | Versions, data flow, setup steps, support owner and limitations | Demo of the supported workflow |
| Custom integration delivered | A connection has been implemented for a defined configuration | Permission to describe it, implementation scope and dependencies | Technical scoping discussion |
| API available; connector unbuilt | The platform provides an API for development | Public documentation, authentication method, endpoints and limits | API evaluation |
| Sandbox demonstration only | A test connection exists outside production | Test scope, unsupported functions and requirements for production | Technical validation |
| Planned integration | The connection is on a roadmap, not currently available | Approved roadmap wording | Record interest without implying availability |
This distinction matters for search copy. “Integrates with” says more than “can be connected through an API”, particularly when the buyer expects somebody else to maintain the connection.
Spell out that responsibility.
Give each supported connection a useful page, then link it from the product and integration index so prospects can move between capability and technical detail. Avoid making pages for every logo a salesperson has mentioned.
Searchmaxxed's Agentic Search Engineering includes integration page families. We build them around confirmed capabilities, rather than treating a long list of possible connections as a publishing target.
What changes between Australia and the US?
Insurtech SEO pages should reflect the market where the product is available and the company's role in providing software, distributing insurance or issuing cover. Those roles aren't interchangeable.
Keep legal review separate from SEO.
In Australia, ASIC's guidance on financial advice distinguishes advice, dealing and factual information. It also explains the role of Australian financial services licence authorisations.
For page planning, this creates questions for your specialists: whose authorisation applies, what activity occurs and which entity does it? Your software page should reflect their answers.
In the US, use the NAIC's state insurance department directory to identify the relevant regulator for checking state-specific claims. Don't turn a software feature into a statement that every customer meets every state's requirements.
| Page element | Australian version | US version |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Approved description of the provider, distributor or software supplier | Approved description of the carrier, producer, MGA or software supplier |
| Availability | Supported products and Australian market scope | Supported products and states where relevant |
| Regulatory topics | AFS authorisation and disclosure questions, where relevant to the activity | Relevant state requirements and licensing questions |
| Product wording | Terminology used by Australian prospects | Terminology used by US prospects, such as property and casualty |
| Supporting evidence | Applicable product documents and approved local capabilities | Applicable state or product documents and approved capabilities |
These are topics to resolve before publication, not legal conclusions. Searchmaxxed implements approved market differences in the pages; your specialists settle the regulatory statements.
Our fintech SEO and compliance guide explains the review boundary in more detail, including how approved claims shape the content that goes live. Here, decide whether regional pages have meaningful differences to explain.
If they don't, don't manufacture them.
Which technical SEO issues matter for insurance platforms?
Insurtech technical SEO should make public product information easy to crawl while keeping private customer systems protected. A marketing website and a policyholder portal have different jobs.
We check the public experience first.
For the claims-intake platform, the product explanation should be readable without signing in, accepting optional cookies or running a search inside the documentation portal. Sensitive claims records stay private.
| Area to check | What to test | Why it matters for this platform |
|---|---|---|
| JavaScript rendering | Compare the initial page with the rendered product text, title and canonical | Product details must survive the site's rendering process |
| Crawl and indexing | Check public URLs, robots controls, status codes and XML sitemaps | Search engines need access to the pages intended for discovery |
| Documentation | Link useful public documentation from product and integration pages | Technical evaluators need a path from the claim to its detail |
| Duplicate URLs | Review campaign parameters, documentation versions and canonical tags | Equivalent pages shouldn't create conflicting preferred URLs |
| Site speed | Test Core Web Vitals and the mobile demo form | A prospect should be able to read and enquire without fighting the page |
| Regional versions | Check links and regional annotations where separate market pages exist | Prospects should reach the version matching product availability |
| Structured data | Match markup to visible content and verified business facts | Software, company and insurance roles must remain distinct |
Searchmaxxed's technical SEO covers rendering, speed, crawl and indexing fixes, redirects, canonicals, sitemaps and schema, alongside the page work needed to explain the product.
Public access isn't the same as security. Private applications need authentication and access controls; hiding a URL from search isn't a substitute for protecting it.
How can insurtech companies appear in AI answers?
Insurtech AI SEO gives search systems clear evidence about a product's purpose, supported capabilities and limitations. Those facts need accessible pages and consistent supporting sources.
The foundations still matter.
Google's guidance on AI features says there are no extra requirements or special optimisations for appearing in AI Overviews or AI Mode. It also says there is no special schema required.
For our example, “claims-intake software” is a category. A description of supported submissions, named integrations and implementation responsibilities gives an answer engine much more to work with when comparing options for an insurer.
Write the answer beside the evidence.
A useful integration paragraph names the product, explains the connection and states its limits without relying on a heading elsewhere to make the sentence accurate. That makes it easier to understand when quoted separately.
Searchmaxxed includes GEO and AEO in its managed packages. We improve the underlying pages and track what ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers say about the business.
For an insurtech, the checks should distinguish these outcomes:
- The answer names the product.
- The answer links to a source about it.
- The description of the product is correct.
- The recommendation matches the buyer's market and required capabilities.
A mention alone isn't enough. An answer recommending an unavailable integration is a sales problem, even if the visibility report paints it green.
How should you measure insurtech SEO performance?
Measure whether search brings suitable buyers into a product evaluation, then follow those opportunities through the sales process. Keep software demos separate from insurance enquiries.
Start with the landing page.
For the claims-intake example, record the product or integration page that brought the visitor in, then check whether the enquiry fits the supported market. Sales feedback should distinguish an insurer evaluating software from a consumer trying to report a claim.
| Measure | What it tells you | What it cannot establish alone |
|---|---|---|
| Relevant search impressions | Your pages appear for intended product questions | Whether anyone visited or bought |
| Organic product-page visits | People reached the software explanation | Whether they fit your customer profile |
| Demo requests | Visitors asked to evaluate the product | Whether sales accepted the opportunity |
| Accepted opportunities | Sales identified a suitable potential customer | Whether the deal will close |
| Won revenue linked to recorded enquiries | Search contributed to identifiable sales | Every influence on the purchase |
| Accurate AI recommendations | Answer engines describe the product appropriately | Revenue from those answers |
Don't combine incompatible totals. A demo, an investor enquiry and a policy quote can all be form submissions while representing entirely different work for your company.
Searchmaxxed checks Search Console and GA4 as part of managed delivery. Custom & Enterprise can include custom reporting when the sales process needs a closer connection to the website data.
For a D2C insurtech, use a separate reporting view following eligible quote requests, completed applications and policies. Keep the definitions stable so each review compares like with like.
What would Searchmaxxed do for an insurtech company?
Searchmaxxed builds and improves the pages, technical setup and search measurement needed to connect an insurtech's actual products with relevant searches. Implementation is part of the work.
The website stays yours.
For the hypothetical claims-intake company, we would first check existing product pages against search demand, competitor explanations and the objections appearing in sales conversations. Then we'd fix or build the pages that answer those objections, with your product and compliance specialists supplying the facts.
That might mean rewriting the product page, adding a supported integration page and correcting an indexing fault before commissioning another educational article about insurance trends.
Our Managed Search Loop connects that research to weekly releases, live checks and the next measurement review. The business owns its website, repository, content and data.
| Searchmaxxed package | Published delivery scope | How it relates to insurtech SEO |
|---|---|---|
| Growth System | 30 page releases a month, including approved new pages or substantial rebuilds | Product and use-case work with technical SEO and AI visibility tracking |
| Agentic Search Engineering | 50 page releases a month, with comparison, industry and integration page families | Broader product coverage, integration explanations and AI answer tracking |
| Custom & Enterprise | Scope can include multiple markets, dedicated engineering, custom reporting and original research | Work spanning product lines, regional sites or more complex reporting |
Technical, schema, internal-link and measurement work doesn't reduce the Growth System page commitment. The package follows the work. The right scope depends on the existing site, supported products, markets and the volume of useful pages your team can substantiate.
Is Searchmaxxed right for your insurtech company?
Searchmaxxed fits insurtech teams that want SEO and AI search work implemented. You work directly with the people doing the work.
| Searchmaxxed is a good fit if | Look elsewhere if |
|---|---|
| You want research, page work and technical changes implemented | You want strategy advice with no changes to your site |
| You can supply verified product and integration facts | You want unsupported capabilities presented as available |
| Your specialists can resolve licensing and regulatory statements | You need an insurance adviser or legal compliance service |
| You can share website and search data to measure the work | You cannot provide the access needed for implementation and measurement |
If your in-house team already implements search work and needs a focused review, our AI SEO Audit is a separate starting point.
Frequently asked questions
Is insurtech SEO the same as insurance software marketing?
Insurtech SEO is the search-focused part of insurance software marketing. It covers product discovery through search engines and AI answers, rather than every activity involved in selling the software.
Should a B2B insurtech publish consumer insurance articles?
Only when the topic supports its product and reaches a relevant customer. A software platform should prioritise the questions insurers, brokers or MGAs need answered before evaluating it.
Do integration pages help insurance platform SEO?
Integration pages can answer specific technical searches when they describe supported connections with enough detail to be useful. Their value depends on the evidence. Logos alone don't explain implementation.
Does an insurtech website need separate Australian and US pages?
Separate market pages make sense when availability, product details or approved disclosures differ. Otherwise, keep the core product explanation together and state the market limits clearly.
Can SEO replace a compliance review?
No. SEO can organise approved facts into useful pages, but your legal and compliance specialists must determine what the business can say about regulated activities.
How much does insurtech SEO cost?
The scope depends on product lines, market coverage, technical work and the pages required. Searchmaxxed quotes for the business rather than publishing a standard insurtech fee.
How long does insurtech SEO take to produce sales?
There isn't a reliable sales deadline without knowing the site's starting point and the procurement cycle. Check indexing, relevant visits and suitable enquiries before attributing closed revenue to the work.
Where should you start?
Start with the product your next customer needs to understand, and the page that ought to explain it. Bring that page and your target markets to the conversation.
We'll look at what the search work needs to change.
