SEO for vertical AI companies connects an industry-specific problem with evidence that your product can handle it. Start with the workflow. Build use-case pages around the task, evaluation pages around the evidence, and trust pages around the conditions of use. Link them together. The aim is a shortlist you belong on.

I'm Brenden House. I run Searchmaxxed, an SEO and AI SEO agency. This guide covers the search side of vertical AI marketing: getting industry-specific products found and understood, rather than using AI to produce marketing content.

In summary

  • Target the task your product performs. “Engineering drawing revision comparison” gives you a clearer page than “AI for industry”.
  • Publish evaluations buyers can interpret. Show the test conditions, failures and review requirements beside the result, with a date and product version.
  • Separate model capability from product capability. A foundation-model score doesn't prove that your application works with a customer's documents.
  • Make trust information specific. Australian and US buyers need clear answers about supported uses, data handling and the scope of your evidence.
  • Measure suitable evaluations and sales opportunities. Keep those separate from rankings, AI mentions and citations.

Vertical AI marketing needs to explain a specialist workflow, not merely announce that a product uses artificial intelligence. The evidence must follow.

Vertical AI is AI built for a particular industry or domain. A domain-specific model is trained or adapted for specialist data and tasks.

They're different things.

An industry product can use a general-purpose model underneath. IBM's explanation of vertical AI agents describes specialisation through fine-tuning, instruction-tuning and retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG. RAG retrieves source material for a model to use when answering.

Your buyer might need a reliable contract-review workflow without caring whether you trained the underlying model, so explain the application before the architecture.

What you sellWhat the website must explainEvidence worth publishing
Domain-specific modelIntended tasks, languages, input types and accessModel card, evaluation method and limitations
Vertical AI applicationThe job completed within an industry's workflowReviewed examples, integrations and application-level evaluations
Vertical AI agentActions it can take, permissions and stopping pointsTask-completion evidence, audit trail and human handover

Name it accurately.

Calling document retrieval “engineering validation” creates a different promise, even when both descriptions sound plausible in a pitch deck. Your search pages should preserve that boundary.

Searchmaxxed turns approved product facts into pages that answer those distinctions. Our broader SEO guide for AI startups covers the general site, application and documentation foundations; this guide focuses on specialist evidence.

Which searches should a vertical AI company target?

Target searches that name a supported task, a specialist user or a constraint your product can meet. Research the results before assigning a page.

Start with sales conversations. Listen for unfinished work: reviewing clinical notes, checking contract clauses or finding the current drawing when the archive holds several outdated versions.

Bessemer's vertical AI founder playbook, published in January 2026, starts with specific workflow problems and stresses integration with existing systems. Apply that same discipline to search.

These are illustrative queries, not measured keyword volumes:

SectorExample searchUseful destinationEvidence to have ready
Legal AIContract clause extraction for Australian commercial leasesUse-case pageJurisdiction, document types, missed clauses and review process
Medical AIClinical note summarisation with source referencesUse-case and evaluation pagesIntended use, omission checks and clinician review
Financial AICredit document extraction with audit trailProduct evaluation pageField-level results, source traceability and exception handling
Engineering AICompare engineering drawing revisionsWorkflow pageRevision tests, supported formats and engineer sign-off
Public-sector AIDocument classification with restricted accessDeployment and trust pagesAccess controls, retention and supported operating conditions

Keep the first topic narrow. A company selling clinical documentation software shouldn't fill its site with treatment advice to attract unrelated patient searches.

Searchmaxxed maps the relevant queries to existing pages before adding new ones. Wording alone isn't enough.

If “engineering drawing comparison” and “compare drawing revisions” show the same intent, one strong page can answer both. Give genuinely different tasks their own pages.

What should a vertical AI use-case page actually show?

A vertical AI use-case page should show the task, the input, the output and the human work still required. Make the product's boundary visible.

Consider a hypothetical venture-backed company selling a drawing-revision assistant to manufacturers. It finds differences between drawing versions and prepares a review list for engineers.

That's the example here. It isn't a Searchmaxxed client or a measured result.

Its page might target “compare engineering drawing revisions”. Open with the supported workflow, then show a synthetic drawing pair and the marked changes.

Include the difficult bits. Explain whether it can read scanned annotations, identify an obsolete revision and tell the reviewer when a dimension is unreadable.

Those details give the buyer something to assess, while the same evidence helps a search engine distinguish the product from a general document chatbot.

The page needs:

  • Inputs: supported drawing formats, scan quality and revision metadata.
  • Output: the actual comparison view, with source references.
  • Review: which findings require an engineer's decision.
  • Integration: how files enter and where reviewed results go.
  • Exclusions: unsupported formats and tasks outside the product's scope.
  • Next action: a demonstration using a permitted sample.

Don't imply engineering approval. Detecting a changed dimension says nothing, by itself, about whether the revised design is safe.

For Searchmaxxed, this becomes a page-build brief: clear copy, useful visuals, titles, internal links and a suitable enquiry route. Your specialists supply the product evidence.

How do you turn an AI benchmark into a useful search page?

An AI benchmark page should state exactly what was tested, how it was scored and where the result applies. Keep those facts beside the headline.

A benchmark is a comparison test. An evaluation page explains the test and its findings so another person can judge their relevance.

The score needs context.

NIST's February 2026 evaluation report distinguishes benchmark accuracy from generalised accuracy. The former concerns the tested questions; the latter concerns a broader population of similar questions.

They can differ. Selected clean drawings won't represent every scan in a manufacturer's archive, especially if those scans contain annotations absent from the original test material.

For the drawing-revision assistant, the following publication template keeps the test conditions beside the result. It's a proposed structure, not a completed evaluation.

FieldWhat the product team should provide
Task and intended useIdentify drawing changes for engineer review, not approve designs
System testedApplication version, model version and retrieval configuration
Test materialDataset source, sample size, permissions and selection method
Separation from developmentWhether test documents were used in training or tuning
Document conditionsFile types, scan quality, languages and revision complexity
Correct answerWho labelled the expected changes and resolved disagreements
ScoringDefinitions for missed changes, false alerts and correct references
Human involvementReviewer qualifications, review steps and correction time
ComparisonThe same task under stated manual or software conditions
Limits and dateExcluded cases, uncertainty, test date and superseded versions

Publish failures as well. A missed revision and an unnecessary alert create different work for the engineer, so combining them into “accuracy” can hide the distinction.

Define your metrics plainly:

  • Precision: the share of flagged changes that were genuine.
  • Recall: the share of genuine changes the system found.
  • Review time: time spent checking and correcting the output under the stated test conditions.

A faster first draft isn't necessarily faster completed work. Include the correction step.

Searchmaxxed can build the public evaluation page, its explanation and the links from related use cases. Your technical team owns the testing and conclusions.

We don't certify model performance.

The evidence must match the decisions each product supports. Industry-specific AI SEO should explain how your product handles those decisions, with evidence for the task rather than a security paragraph copied across sectors.

Start with the consequence of an error.

Product taskWhat the evidence should distinguishClaim to avoid without separate proof
Legal clause extractionFinding text versus interpreting its legal effectExtraction accuracy proves legal correctness
Clinical summarisationRecording source information versus recommending careA useful summary establishes clinical safety
Financial document analysisExtracting values versus judging creditworthinessCorrect fields establish a sound lending decision
Engineering drawing comparisonDetecting changes versus validating the designFinding revisions means approving the design

These are content boundaries, not regulatory classifications. Have the relevant specialist approve the intended-use wording before it becomes a title, snippet or comparison claim.

Check each market separately. A legal evaluation built on Australian documents needs its jurisdiction stated; an American dataset doesn't silently extend that scope.

Avoid duplicate country pages. Publish separate pages when the supported workflow, deployment, terminology or evidence genuinely changes between markets.

Searchmaxxed builds those distinctions into the page structure. We don't turn a sector keyword into a claim your product team hasn't approved.

What belongs on public trust and data pages?

Public trust pages should explain the product's data handling and operating limits in terms a procurement team can verify. Keep sensitive evidence access-controlled.

Start with specific answers. A buyer deciding whether to upload medical records, contracts or engineering files needs to know where those files go and who can access them.

Publish approved details about:

  • Where inputs, outputs and logs are processed and stored.
  • Whether your company or a model provider uses customer data for training.
  • Retention, deletion and backup behaviour.
  • Subprocessors and deployment options.
  • Access controls, audit logs and human review.
  • Available assurance reports, their scope and how buyers request them.

Training and retention are separate. Explain both.

The OAIC's guidance on commercial AI products asks adopting organisations to consider intended uses, testing, oversight and access to personal information. Give Australian buyers clear facts for that assessment.

For US-facing procurement, NIST's AI Risk Management Framework offers a voluntary reference for discussing AI risks. It's not a product certification.

Searchmaxxed publishes the explanations your security and product teams approve, then links them beside the claims they support. We don't write compliance credentials into existence.

How do vertical AI companies get named in ChatGPT and Perplexity?

Vertical AI companies need accessible pages that connect their product name to a specific task and credible evidence. Then inspect the cited sources.

AI SEO concerns AI-answer visibility. GEO means generative engine optimisation, while AEO means answer engine optimisation; both focus on making a business and its answers discoverable in search.

Begin with the niche question. Try “Which tools compare engineering drawing revisions with source references?” rather than “What are the best AI companies?”

Check the resulting descriptions. Does the answer recognise your product's intended use, or recommend it for a task you explicitly exclude?

Record that difference.

Searchmaxxed checks AI answers alongside rankings and competitor pages. Relevant links and digital PR are part of our plans, supported by evidence worth discussing outside your website.

Do the same sources work in every AI engine?

Different engines can select different sources. Our own research shows why each needs checking, although the study concerned agency searches rather than vertical AI products.

Perplexity cited a review directory (Semrush Agencies, Clutch, DesignRush and the like) in 36 of 44 agency answers. ChatGPT did it in 20 and Claude in 15. One agency's Clutch profile had six reviews and was cited 20 times.

The panel ran on 29 September 2026 and concerned agency searches, so its findings should prompt separate research into your sector rather than borrowed assumptions.

For an engineering product, investigate the sources named in engineering answers. A useful evaluation or specialist publication might matter; establish that from the answers rather than assuming agency directories are the route.

What technical work supports those pages?

Keep the public evidence readable, indexed where appropriate and connected through internal links. The private application stays protected.

Google's guidance on AI features requires supporting pages to be indexed and eligible for a search snippet. It calls for no special AI schema.

OpenAI's crawler documentation separates OAI-SearchBot for search from GPTBot for potential training. Those controls are independent.

Perplexity's crawler guidance also covers firewall access. A permissive robots.txt file won't fix a firewall block.

Our technical SEO work checks rendering, crawl access, canonical tags and sitemaps, alongside mobile performance and structured data that accurately describes the visible content. For evaluation pages, we also check that important results exist as text rather than only inside a chart.

How should you measure progress and keep claims current?

Measure whether relevant searchers reach a suitable evaluation and become sales opportunities. Review product claims whenever the underlying evidence changes.

Separate the measures:

MeasureWhat it tells youWhat it doesn't tell you
Relevant non-brand impressionsYour pages appear for the intended tasksWhether the visitor fits your product
Product mentions and citationsAI answers name you or reference your pagesWhether anyone visited or bought
Suitable demos and evaluationsThe right organisations are investigatingWhether procurement will approve
Accepted sales opportunitiesSearch contributed to a commercial conversationThat every touchpoint was organic

Use CRM evidence where available. Keep a buyer's self-reported discovery source alongside analytics rather than forcing one to explain everything.

Then maintain the pages.

For the drawing assistant, a new model, retrieval index or parser can change the result while the old benchmark remains online. Trigger a review with the release.

Keep historical evaluations clearly labelled. Link the current version from the use-case page and explain material changes, so a buyer doesn't assess today's product using yesterday's conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Is vertical AI marketing the same as using AI for marketing?

No. Marketing a vertical AI company means helping buyers find and evaluate its industry-specific product. Using AI for marketing describes tools that perform marketing tasks.

Does a vertical AI company need its own foundation model?

No. A specialist application can use a general-purpose model with domain data, retrieval and workflow controls. Explain what your product adds.

Can a domain-specific model company use ordinary SaaS SEO?

Yes, for the search foundations. Add model-specific evidence about intended use, evaluation conditions, versions and limitations, while explaining how buyers can access or deploy the model.

Should we publish a benchmark if the results aren't perfect?

Publish useful, authorised results with their methods and limits. Show the failures. A buyer needs to understand where review remains necessary, not merely see a winning score.

Does every industry need a separate landing page?

No. Create one when the workflow, evidence or requirements differ enough to support distinct content. Swapping industry names doesn't create a useful page.

Should detailed security reports be public for SEO?

Not necessarily. Publish approved explanations, with a clear route for buyers to request restricted evidence while confidential reports and customer material stay behind suitable access controls.

Where should you start?

Start with a supported workflow and the evidence behind it. Bring your product page, current evaluation material and the questions that keep appearing in sales conversations.

We'll map the search work around those facts.

Let's talk pricing.
