Law Firm Marketing That Turns Searches into New Clients
What does law firm marketing involve?
Law firm marketing involves getting a firm found, trusted and chosen by the people who need its help. For most new clients, that starts with a search. We run the search-led side of law firm digital marketing: SEO, AI search, your Google Business Profile, content, reviews and the website itself.
Many clients now ask AI before they ask a lawyer. In Clio's 2026 Legal Trends Report, 46% of US consumers said they would consult AI before contacting a lawyer. Closer to home, 46% of client-facing Victorian lawyers say clients have arrived with inaccurate or misleading information from AI. Your pages should be the accurate source those answers draw on.
Every word sits under Rule 36 of the Australian Solicitors' Conduct Rules. Your advertising, marketing and promotion can't be false, misleading, deceptive or offensive. We write inside those rules from the first draft, because marketing for law firms only works when your principal can stand behind every line.
Searchmaxxed's work has generated more than $15 million in revenue through search for its clients.
Searchmaxxed is an AI-native search team. We make your company the answer in Google and in the AI engines your buyers ask.

Why do strong firms lose new clients online?
Strong law firms lose new clients online because their websites talk about the firm instead of the client's problem. Google then has nothing exact to match to the search. Most clients meet a firm on a screen long before they meet a lawyer. The firm with the clearer page gets the call.
Caution makes it worse. Firms strip out the detail that makes a page useful, hoping to stay safe. The Law Society of NSW's guidance points the other way: the more descriptive and accurate a specialist claim, the less chance it gets misread.
Every practice area on one page
One page can't answer a property settlement question and a drink-driving charge at once. So clients leave, and Google sends them to the firm with a page for their exact problem.
Marketing written as if the rules weren't there
Calling a lawyer a specialist without accreditation, or offering no win, no fee without the conditions, puts your firm at risk. Rule 36 holds the solicitor responsible, even when an agency wrote the copy.
A Google profile set up once and forgotten
Wrong hours, thin reviews or a virtual office cost you the map. Google's own guidelines say a virtual office isn't eligible for a Business Profile.
Missing from the AI answer
Clients ask ChatGPT about their problem before they call anyone. If your firm's facts are thin or don't match across the web, a competitor gets named instead of you.
How competitive is SEO for law firms in Australia?
The searches your clients make add up to about 43,700 a month in Australia across the five below. The biggest, “lawyer”, gets about 22,200 a month. Keyword difficulty runs from 0 to 100: the higher it is, the stronger the pages you have to beat.
| SEARCH | MONTHLY SEARCHES (AU) | DIFFICULTY |
|---|---|---|
| lawyer | 22,200 | 39 |
| family lawyer | 9,900 | 20 |
| lawyer near me | 4,400 | 28 |
| criminal lawyer | 3,600 | 18 |
| employment lawyer | 3,600 | 10 |

What does SEO for law firms cost in Australia?
SEO for law firms in Australia is priced as a serious program in a competitive market, not a starter package. StudioHawk, one of Australia's larger agencies, puts growth-focused SEO work at $1,500 to $3,000 monthly. The same agency puts comprehensive SEO for national and ecommerce brands at $5,000 or more a month.
Audits and site migrations are usually quoted as projects, from about $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the size of the site.
The right budget depends on how competitive your searches are and how much of the work your site needs. We quote each business after a free growth plan, and we don't publish prices.
How do clients find and choose a lawyer now?
Clients now find a lawyer by searching for what happened, often in Google or ChatGPT, rather than for a firm's name. Then they name the lawyer they need, look for one nearby and check the reviews. We put your law firm in front of them at every step.
1. Asking about the problem
The first question goes to Google or an AI assistant. A clear guide on your site gives the answer something accurate to draw on.
2. Naming the lawyer they need
Next they search for the type of lawyer. A practice area page that answers their situation wins this search.
3. Finding a firm nearby
Then they add a suburb or near me. Office pages and your Google Business Profile decide who shows on the map.
4. Checking before they call
Last comes the check. They read the reviews, look for fees and size up the lawyer they'd deal with before they pick up the phone.
What does our law firm marketing cover?
Our law firm marketing covers the search-led side: the six things that decide whether a client finds you, trusts you and calls. They are content that answers clients' questions, your Google Business Profile, AI answers, reviews, your website and claims written inside Rule 36.

How do we run marketing for a law firm?
We run law firm marketing from your numbers. We bring your Search Console, GA4 and enquiry data together with the Google results, rival firms, legal directories and AI answers in your market. That shows us which page, fix or listing will bring in the most new matters next. We build it, check the claims and measure what it brings in.

How do we measure law firm marketing?
We measure law firm marketing on enquiries and new matters by practice area, not on traffic alone. We also track where your firm shows on Google Maps and which firms AI answers name. Where your CRM allows it, we trace which searches and AI answers turn into revenue.
Google counts clicks from AI Overviews and AI Mode in Search Console's Performance report, under the Web search type. So our numbers cover classic results and AI features together.
Enquiries by practice area
Calls, forms and bookings for each practice area page, from GA4 and your intake system. You see which areas bring in work.
Map and local results
Where your firm shows on Google Maps for each office, and for the searches that bring in clients.
AI answer presence
We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google who to call for a legal problem in your city. We log who gets named, and when.
Revenue from search
Which searches and AI answers turned into new matters and fees, tracked through your CRM where it allows.
