FREE TOOL

Free llms.txt generator, built from your live site

A free Searchmaxxed tool: your real URLs, grouped, described and ready to publish.
THE TOOL

What this tool does

A complete llms.txt built from your live URL structure, grouped by section and described, ready to publish at the root of your domain. Coding agents already fetch this file before reading anything else on a site.
You enter a domain and a business name. We map the live URLs and group them by section. Each one gets a short description, and the finished file is ready to copy or download.
WHAT YOU LEAVE WITH
You leave with a complete llms.txt, grouped by section and ready to publish, built from your live URLs rather than typed by hand.
INPUTS

Enter the details this check needs. Required fields are marked before you start the run.

3 required fields remain before the run can start.
Your address is recorded against your contact in our CRM and nothing else happens to it. The result appears here, not in your inbox. See the Privacy Policy.

READY WHEN YOU ARE
Your evidence will appear here after the live run finishes.
The panel keeps the primary finding, supporting evidence and next action together so the result is easy to use.
THE SHORT ANSWER
An llms.txt generator creates the plain-text file that lists your most useful pages with a short description of each. You publish it at the root of your domain, so an AI agent reading your site knows where the answers are. Coding agents already fetch it. We watch harnesses including Codex, Claude Code and Droid pull /llms.txt before reading anything else.
WHY

Why this tool exists.

An llms.txt file tells a model which pages on your site carry the answers and what each one is for. Written by hand it goes stale within a month. This tool reads your live URL structure and groups the pages by the job they do. It writes the file with a description for each entry.
Other generators hand back a flat list you still have to write descriptions for. This reads your live site and groups the URLs by the section they belong to. It describes each one and returns a complete file you can publish without editing it.

What is an llms.txt file?

A markdown file served at the root of a domain, at /llms.txt. It opens with the site name as an H1 and a blockquote saying what the site is. Then H2 sections hold markdown link lists, and each entry can carry a short description.
llmstxt.org proposed the format to solve one problem. A model reading a website has to infer which pages matter from navigation and internal links. That inference is often wrong, so the file states it directly.

How do I create a full llms.txt file?

Enter your domain. The tool maps your live URL structure and drops asset, feed, tag, pagination, search, cart and admin paths. It groups what remains by its first path segment and names each section from that segment.
Sections run in order of usefulness rather than alphabetically. The tool spreads the budget across sections, so one large programmatic family cannot fill the file and push out real content. Descriptions appear only where they add something the link title does not. A description that repeats its own title is noise.

Does llms.txt work?

We have watched it happen. We work inside coding harnesses every day, including Codex, Claude Code, Prime Agent, Droid and OMP. Agents fetch /llms.txt from a site before they read anything else on it. That is a first-hand observation from our own sessions, and it is the strongest evidence the format has right now.
Consumer assistants are a separate question. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity have made no public commitment to reading the file. Anyone promising you a ranking benefit from publishing one is selling something. The honest split is simple. Agents already use it, and the big answer engines have stayed quiet.
Publish it anyway. Agentic traffic is the fastest growing part of this, and it is the part where readers demonstrably fetch the file. One file buys you correctness with the readers that already look for it.

Who should publish an llms.txt?

Sites with a lot of pages and an unobvious hierarchy, where the pages carrying the answers are not the pages a crawler would reach first. Documentation, resource libraries and large service sites benefit most.
Small sites with clear navigation gain the least, because the structure is already legible without it.

How is llms.txt different from a sitemap?

A sitemap lists every URL so a crawler can find them all, and it makes no claim about relative value. An llms.txt names the pages that carry answers and says what each one is for. One is coverage and the other is editorial judgement, and publishing one does not replace the other.

QUESTIONS

What people ask about this tool.

What is llms.txt?

+
A plain-text file at the root of your site. It lists your most useful pages with a short description of each, so a model reading your site knows where the answers are. The format is published at llmstxt.org.

Where do I put the file?

+
At the root of your domain, served as text, at /llms.txt. The tool returns the finished contents; publishing it is a one-line change on most sites.

Does llms.txt replace a sitemap?

+
No. A sitemap lists every URL for crawlers. llms.txt names the pages that carry answers and says what each one is for.

Do the AI engines read it?

+
Coding agents do, and we see it directly. Harnesses including Codex, Claude Code, Prime Agent, Droid and OMP fetch /llms.txt before reading a site's pages. Consumer assistants are a separate question. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity have made no public commitment. Publishing it costs one file and makes your structure explicit for the readers that already use it.
