THE SHORT ANSWER
A website speed test measures how fast a page loads. It reports the result against Google's Core Web Vitals thresholds. A good result holds Largest Contentful Paint at or under 2.5 seconds. It holds Cumulative Layout Shift at or under 0.1 and Total Blocking Time at or under 200 milliseconds. This test also reports what a crawler sees before any JavaScript runs.
WHY
Why this tool exists.
A slow page loses your buyers before it loses rankings. A page that builds its content with JavaScript can look empty to the crawlers that decide whether you get quoted. This test measures the page against Core Web Vitals and names the work causing the delay.
A speed test usually stops at a performance score. This one reads the same audit and answers the question that decides visibility. Does the content a buyer reads arrive in the first response, or does a crawler have to run scripts to find it?
What is a good website speed?
Google publishes three thresholds and passing them is the goal. Largest Contentful Paint measures when the main content appears and should land at or under 2.5 seconds. Cumulative Layout Shift measures how much the page jumps while loading and should stay at or under 0.1. Total Blocking Time measures how long the browser is locked up and should stay at or under 200 milliseconds.
A perfect score is the wrong goal. Points spent chasing 100 buy nothing a visitor can feel. A page that fails one threshold loses people who never see it load.
How does this differ from a standard speed test?
It runs the same class of performance audit and then answers a second question: how much of your content exists before JavaScript executes. The tool fetches the page with scripting disabled, counts the words in the raw server response, and compares that with the rendered page.
A page whose no-JavaScript word count sits under 200 builds its content client-side. So does a page under a third of its rendered count. Search crawlers usually cope. Answer engines working inside a time budget often do not. The page runs fast for people and reads empty for the systems deciding whether to quote you.
Does website speed affect whether AI engines quote you?
An answer engine has to fetch, parse and extract from your page while somebody waits. Heavy script execution before the content exists makes a page expensive to read. An expensive page loses to a cheaper one saying the same thing.
The connection is indirect but the failure mode is absolute. A page that renders nothing without JavaScript can be first in every ranking and still supply nothing an engine can lift.
Who should run a website speed test?
Anyone whose site runs on a page builder, a heavy theme or a single-page framework. Those are the three common sources of client-side content.
Also anyone told their site is fast on a performance score alone. The score and the crawlability read can disagree completely.
Why does the score change between runs?
A lab test runs on a simulated device and network, so results move a few points per run. Treat a change above ten points as real. Treat anything smaller as noise. Interaction to Next Paint comes from real visitors, so a lab test cannot produce it. This report says it went unmeasured.
