How can I check my Google Business Profile ranking for free?

Why does the map pack decide the phone call?
On a phone, three local results with a call button sit above the organic listings. A business absent from those three has lost the call even when its website ranks first below them.
The pack is a different competition from organic search. Proximity, category, review volume and profile completeness decide it. Pages and links do not. A business can own the organic results in its city and never appear in the pack.
What does the Business Profile comparison show?
The tool reads your public Business Profile fields and compares them with the pack. Your review count against the pack median. Your rating against the pack median. Whether your primary category matches the categories the pack winners use.
Primary category is the most commonly wrong field and the cheapest to change. A business filed under a broad category competes for the wrong searches, and no amount of review generation fixes a category mismatch.
