SEO in Sydney costs about A$1,500 to A$2,500 a month for most local businesses, going by the prices Sydney agencies publish themselves. Entry plans start lower. They run from A$600 to A$1,000 a month, while ecommerce, multi-location and national campaigns run from A$3,500 to A$10,000 and up. Some providers add an onboarding or setup fee of A$880 to A$1,650 before the monthly work starts.
Three things move your number. They are how far your customers spread across Sydney, how crowded your trade is and how much work your website needs first. I read the pricing and service pages of 17 Sydney SEO agencies on 26 October 2026. Fifteen publish a figure. Two don't, and every figure sits in the tables below, linked to its source.
In summary
Budget about A$1,500 to A$2,500 a month for SEO in Sydney if your customers come from a few suburbs rather than the whole city. Bigger reach costs more.
| Your business | Published Sydney prices, per month |
|---|---|
| One service, one area | A$600 to A$1,000 |
| Several services or suburbs | A$1,500 to A$2,500 |
| Ecommerce or multi-location | A$3,500 to A$5,000 |
| National or enterprise | A$6,000 to A$10,000+ |
- Six of the nine Sydney providers with plan prices quote plus GST, so add 10% to those figures before you compare them.
- Terms run from month to month to a 12-month minimum, and onboarding fees sit on top at some agencies.
- Suburbs drive the price.
- Price SEO against the profit from one extra job, then judge the agency by what goes live on your site each month.
How much do Sydney SEO agencies charge?
Published Sydney plans run from A$600 to A$10,000 a month plus GST, and most middle tiers and quoted local campaigns sit between A$1,500 and A$2,500.

Every row comes from the provider's own page on 26 October 2026, with a Sydney address, landline or team. One gap remains. OnePoint's prices carry an asterisk, and nothing on its page says what the asterisk means, so ask OnePoint before you compare its plans. These are advertised prices. Use them as a guide to the market, not a quote for your site.
Sydney agencies that publish a starting figure, not a plan
| Agency and base | What it publishes |
|---|---|
| Click Click Media, Norwest | A$1,500 to A$2,500 a month ex GST for local small businesses; A$3,500 to A$5,000 for ecommerce and multi-location; indicative, with a custom proposal after a free audit; 30 days' notice |
| Digital Presence, Norwest | Local campaigns from A$1,500 + GST |
| Prosperity Media, Surry Hills | Entry local SEO from around A$2,000 + GST a month; 15 to 30 hours a month for a small business |
| Omega Digital, Barangaroo | Engagements from A$2,500 + GST a month; consultancy from A$500 + GST; no contracts |
| Safari Digital, Sydney CBD | Sydney SEO from A$1,400 to A$10,000+ a month by business type and industry; no lock-in contracts |
| Earned Media, Bella Vista | At least A$1,000 a month for a small business, up to A$10,000+ for large companies; monthly, with no commitment longer than a month |
Sydney agencies that don't publish a price
| Agency and base | What it publishes instead |
|---|---|
| StudioHawk, South Eveleigh | No fee; its enquiry form asks for a monthly budget, starting at "Below $3000" and running to "$15,000+" |
| Online Marketing Gurus, Crows Nest | No fee; a free SEO strategy it values at A$4,000 |
Three things stand out. First, GST matters, because six of the nine plan prices exclude it and only one agency shows the price both with and without it. Second, "local" covers a wide spread, from A$695 to A$2,000 for an entry campaign. Third, tiers don't line up. Some agencies count hours, some count articles, and others count tracked keywords or locations, so two plans at one price can buy very different work.
What do you get at each price level in Sydney?
Entry plans of A$600 to A$1,000 a month cover one location: Business Profile work, listings, on-page fixes and an article or two. Plans from A$1,500 add suburbs, content and reviews. Links, AI search work and city-wide reach mostly sit at A$2,500 and above.
| Level | Published price per month | What Sydney plans include |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | A$600 to A$1,000 | One location, 40 tracked keywords, a Business Profile, listing clean-up, one article a month, quarterly technical checks |
| Local growth | A$1,500 to A$2,000 | Up to 3 locations, review generation, 2 articles a month, 2 to 3 pages optimised, schema, monthly technical fixes |
| City-wide or competitive | A$2,500 to A$3,500 | Up to 6 locations, new service or location pages, backlinks, AI search tracking, competitor gap analysis |
| Ecommerce, national, enterprise | A$3,500 to A$10,000+ | Large catalogues, national keywords, digital PR, multi-location Business Profiles, more people on the account |
One agency makes it plain. Its A$800 plan covers one location, its A$1,500 plan covers three, its A$2,500 plan covers six and its A$4,000 plan covers unlimited service areas. You pay per suburb, in effect.
Hours tell the same story. One agency advises 15 to 30 hours a month for a small business, and 50 to 100+ hours a month for large and enterprise companies. Fifteen hours goes fast. A page rewrite, a round of profile work and a monthly report can use most of it before any new suburb page appears.
AI search has reached the cheaper tiers. Studio Slate lists AI SEO monitoring in its A$997 plan. Low Cost SEO Plans lets you add AEO and GEO to its A$695 plan, and SOUP includes GEO in every package.
What changes the cost of SEO for a Sydney business?
Your service area, your trade and your website set the price of SEO in Sydney. Sydney's size pushes the first two harder, because there are more competitors for each search and more suburbs to cover.
| Your situation | What the work adds | Where it sits in published Sydney prices |
|---|---|---|
| One service near your base | One strong service page, a complete Business Profile, reviews, clean listings | A$600 to A$1,000 |
| Customers in several suburbs | A page and reviews for each area you serve, Maps checks beyond your address | A$1,500 to A$2,500 |
| The whole of Sydney | Pages across regions, more content each month, links | A$2,500 to A$5,000 |
| A crowded trade (law, finance, health) | Deeper pages, more links, digital PR | Orion charges A$2,500 instead of A$1,800 for high-competition industries |
| An online store | Category, product and technical work at catalogue scale | A$1,500 to A$7,000+ |
| A site that needs work first | Audit, onboarding, rebuild or migration | A$880 to A$1,650 onboarding; audits from A$800 |
Why Sydney searches cost more to win
Sydney has more people searching. It also has more businesses competing for each search. Safari Digital publishes Semrush figures from July 2026 that show the gap for four common trades.
| Search | Sydney searches a month | Melbourne | Brisbane |
|---|---|---|---|
| "Plumber" | 3,600 | 2,800 | 1,600 |
| "Lawyer" | 2,400 | 2,400 | 1,300 |
| "Accountant" | 2,900 | 2,600 | 1,600 |
| "Dentist" | 4,400 | 3,600 | 2,400 |
Source: Safari Digital, Semrush data, July 2026. Safari also puts the cost per click for "plumber" in Sydney at A$22.97.
More searches are good news. They also pull in more agencies, more ad spend and more businesses chasing the same customers, all competing for the same few spots. Geography matters more, I think. Greater Sydney runs from the Northern Beaches to Penrith and Campbelltown, so a business in one corner sits a long way from customers in another.
Google says local results depend mainly on "relevance, distance, and popularity". On the same page it says prominence draws on "how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have". Distance works against you. Outside your own area, reviews, links and better pages have to make up that gap, and that's the work that pushes the monthly price up.
A worked example: an Inner West plumber
Picture two versions of a Marrickville plumber.
Version one works the Inner West, so it needs a strong page for each service, a complete Business Profile, steady reviews and clean listings. An A$800 to A$1,500 plan covers that.
Version two also wants hot water and blocked drain jobs in Parramatta and the Eastern Suburbs, so each area needs its own page and reviews. Proximity counts. A Parramatta homeowner sees plumbers near Parramatta first. The Marrickville plumber needs reviews, links and pages strong enough to outweigh that distance, plus Maps checks in each area. In published Sydney prices, that's A$2,500-a-month work.
Same plumber, same skills. Roughly double the monthly price, and the only thing that changed is the map.
Does a Sydney-based agency cost more?
Not by much. Sydney agencies cover the whole range, from A$600 + GST to A$10,000 + GST, so a CBD address doesn't set the price. SOUP in the CBD starts at A$2,500 ex GST, while Top SEO Sydney starts at A$600 + GST. Before you compare fees, ask any agency, local or not, to show you Maps results across your whole service area.
Do Sydney SEO agencies lock you into a contract?
Terms vary. Most Sydney providers with published prices bill month to month or after a short minimum, and one asks for 12 months. What matters is knowing the term, the notice period and the start-up costs before you sign.
| Term | What Sydney providers publish | Ask before you sign |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum term | Month to month at most; a three-month minimum at One Studio; 12 months at OnePoint; an agreed initial term at SOUP | What does the term include each month? |
| Notice period | 30 days at Top SEO Sydney, One Studio and Click Click Media | How much notice, in writing? |
| Setup and onboarding | A$880 or A$1,650 inc GST at One Studio; A$1,600 at OnePoint; none at Studio Slate | What do I own once it's paid? |
| Audit | From A$800 at SEO Sydney; free at Click Click Media and SOUP | Does the audit cost come off the first invoice? |
| GST | Six of nine plan prices exclude GST; three don't say | Is every figure ex GST? |
Longer and shorter terms can both work. A term earns its keep when the plan is clear and the work shows up every month in pages, fixes, reviews and links. Judge the first 90 days by output.
Is SEO worth the cost for a Sydney business?
SEO is worth it when the profit from extra jobs covers the monthly fee. That's how I price it, against what a job is worth to you, because a cheaper quote tells you nothing about the return.
Say the Marrickville plumber keeps A$500 from an average job after parts and labour, and pays A$2,000 a month for SEO. Break-even is four extra jobs a month. These are example figures, so plug in your own margin and your own close rate before you decide anything. For a renovator or a lawyer, one job can cover months of fees.
I learned this in a trade. Before Searchmaxxed, I built Radiant Roof Repairs from zero to more than A$1 million a year in revenue using SEO as the only marketing channel. Three high-intent Gold Coast roofing searches reached number one within 90 days. I did the pages, research, competitor checks and updates manually.
When we reached the map pack it was phone call after phone call: 1,487 calls came off our Google Business Profile. Most of that came through Google Maps. Finding people to do the work became the hard part.
That isn't a Sydney forecast. The Radiant Roof Repairs case study shows the pages, research and competitor work behind the result. Our guide to whether SEO is worth it runs the maths for your own business, step by step.
How do you compare two Sydney SEO quotes?
Level the quotes first. Then compare what goes live each month, not the tier names on the cover page. Work through this checklist.
- Turn each quote into a monthly figure ex GST, and put any setup, onboarding or audit fee on its own line.
- Ask which suburbs and services the plan covers, by name.
- Ask for the monthly output: pages, articles, links, reviews and hours.
- Ask who writes and builds the pages, and what a site change costs on top of the fee.
- Ask how they'll check your Google Maps rankings across your whole service area, as well as near your address.
- Ask what ChatGPT and Google's AI answers say about you today, and who changes your pages when those answers leave you out.
- Ask what you keep if you leave.
One test for any quote built around a new website: a pretty site is great, but if it doesn't bring you leads, what's the point?

Where does Searchmaxxed fit?
Searchmaxxed is an SEO and AI SEO agency. We do technical SEO, local SEO, content, link building, GEO and AEO, so Sydney businesses rank in Google and get named in AI answers.
We don't publish fees. We look at your website, your market and your goals, then quote the scope. Our packages page lists what each one includes.
| Package | Who it suits | Published scope |
|---|---|---|
| Local Search | Businesses selling to customers across Sydney suburbs | At least 8 service, suburb and service-by-suburb page releases a month; daily Google Business Profile management; reviews; local links; citations; local AI answer tracking |
| Growth System | Companies selling beyond one city | 30 page releases a month; work on up to 4 existing landing pages; citations and reviews; one qualified link action a month; AI visibility tracking |
| Agentic Search Engineering | Competitive or national markets | 50 page releases a month; comparison and industry pages; digital PR and link campaigns; AI answer tracking across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews |
| Custom & Enterprise | Several markets or large sites | Dedicated engineering, custom reporting and original research |
A page release is an approved new page or a substantial rebuild. Every managed package includes ongoing audits, a 90-day plan in weekly releases, the build work and a monthly decision memo. You own it all. The site, repository, content and data are yours from day one, and terms are monthly, six-month or 12-month, agreed on the call. Local Search starts with an Agentic Migration or a Full Build, and the AI SEO Audit comes included when you join.
Here's how we run it. We build on a website you own, our Agentic Website. AI agents pull your Search Console and GA4 data, your rankings, your competitors' pages and what AI answers say about you. That data feeds the Managed Search Loop, which shows which page, fix or link should bring in the most enquiries next. We build it. Then we check the live page and measure what it brings in. Off your site, the Off-Page Source Layer covers links, reviews, citations and mentions that back you up.
For a Sydney business, that means a page for each service and each part of the city you serve, plus suburb reviews. Our Sydney SEO page has more. Searchmaxxed's work has generated more than A$10 million in revenue through search for its clients. Let's talk pricing.
Frequently asked questions
How much does local SEO cost in Sydney?
Usually A$1,500 to A$2,500 a month. Published local prices run from A$600 to A$2,500, and the number of suburbs moves the price most. One agency charges A$800 for one location and A$2,500 for six, plus GST.
What is the cheapest SEO in Sydney?
A$600 a month plus GST. That's the lowest published Sydney price, from Top SEO Sydney, and Low Cost SEO Plans starts at A$695 + GST. At that level expect one location and the basics: Business Profile work, listings and on-page fixes.
How much should a small business spend on SEO a month in Sydney?
Most Sydney small businesses that serve several suburbs should budget A$1,500 to A$2,500 a month plus GST. Quiet trades can start lower. Work back from your profit per job and the number of extra jobs you need each month to cover the fee.
How much do SEO consultants in Sydney charge per hour?
About A$90 to A$350 an hour. SEO Sydney Experts puts the average at A$90 to A$150 + GST and Earned Media at A$125 to A$250. SEO Sydney quotes A$150 to A$350 for experienced consultants, the top of the published range. See what an SEO consultant costs.
Do Sydney SEO prices include GST?
Usually not. Six of the nine Sydney providers with plan prices quote ex GST, and the other three don't say. Only One Studio shows both, so ask every agency for its price ex and inc GST before you put two quotes side by side.
Is SEO more expensive in Sydney than in Melbourne or Brisbane?
It can be. Safari Digital's Semrush figures show 3,600 monthly searches for "plumber" in Sydney, against 2,800 in Melbourne and 1,600 in Brisbane. More demand brings more competition for the same customers.
Do Sydney SEO agencies charge setup fees?
Some do. One Studio charges A$880 or A$1,650 inc GST for onboarding, OnePoint lists a A$1,600 setup fee and Studio Slate says it charges none. Ask what it covers.
How much does ecommerce SEO cost in Sydney?
From A$1,500 to A$7,000 a month. Click Click Media puts ecommerce and multi-location work at A$3,500 to A$5,000 ex GST. Catalogue size drives most of the difference between a small store and a national one.
How much does an SEO audit cost in Sydney?
Anywhere from free to A$14,000. SEO Sydney lists audits from A$800, and Earned Media says audits run A$650 to A$14,000. Click Click Media and SOUP audit free. A paid audit is worth it when you keep the fix list.
Does AI SEO cost extra in Sydney?
Often it's inside the plan. Studio Slate includes AI SEO monitoring from A$997 a month, and SOUP includes GEO in every package. Ask which AI answers they track, and who changes your pages when those answers leave you out.
How long does SEO take to pay off in Sydney?
Months, not weeks. SOUP says lower-competition terms typically move around months two to three, with commercial return over months six to twelve. Crowded Sydney trades take longer. Judge progress on what goes live.
Can I do SEO myself instead of paying an agency?
Yes. A Google Business Profile is free, and Google charges nothing for organic results, so your costs are your time, tools and any help you buy. Start with your Business Profile and one page per service, using how to do SEO yourself.
What should you do next?
Write down your two best services. Then mark the parts of Sydney where you want the work, and hold every quote you get against the tables above, line by line. Or let us scope it: let's talk.
